A very nice and pleasant place for a few days in the family. D. Laura's kindness. A very pleasant swimming pool. Solar already very old, but with all the amenities. The Internet needs to be improved. A small basic lunch, but enough. It would certainly be a place to visit again.

Good place for family

It's really hard to find, it's in Zebras town. A very welcoming place, with super attentive housekeeper D.Laura, and it helps us feel at home. Otherwise, the dining area is relatively far away. A small lunch could be richer! Have some fruit and more variety.

Ideal for getting out of town

For those of you who don't know the area, as was my case, it's not easy to find this solar. After you first get there, you find that it's finally more affordable than it seemed at first glance. It's a solar with excellent restoration work, with very spacious rooms, various living spaces, indoor and outdoor, and a wide kitchen. The friendliness of D. Laura is commendable. Only one exception: at almost 30 degrees, a dive in the pool was something we liked; but the pool was not available. Improving...

Hard to find, but of high quality

Careful space and true to its roots, comfortable and caring, available and very friendly employee, nothing was missing in our stay, a beautiful pool that we didn't enjoy being second, several points of interest to visit in the area, to repeat.

Receptionist

Located in the center of several historic villages in Portugal, the Solar is the ideal place for those who want to explore and know the region. This was the reason we chose it to spend four days, which proved very profitable! In the quiet village of Zebras, the Solar dos Caldeira and Bourbon is located at the highest part off the Church. The building remains faithful to the original, although it was completely restored when it was acquired by the current owner. We stayed in the Wigia Room and recommend it because you hear little of the church bells. The house has a part-time governent, D. Laura, who is super attentive and gives the best tips for what to do, see and where. The dining room and dining room and the pool area in the village are not very nice, but the pictures of the pool are very small and we recommend that you stay at night.

Ideal for exploring Portugal's historic villages or simply relaxing

This place was one of the best experiences during our 3 weeks tour in Portugal: looks standard from outside but inside it's renovated to perfection. As we were the only ones we could use all the house by ourselves. Pool was still closed due to the poor weather in spring 2016.
Some more things to highlight: free Wifi and the free bar (spirits and wines)

For weak sleepers the churchbells of the nearby church could keep you awake or wake up 6am :-) 
Also good to know is that there are no restaurants in the village (only a bar), you need to drive some minutes or cook yourself in the huge kitchen.

Beautiful house renovated to last the next 500 years - pure luxury!Free Wifi, Pool, lack of restaurants

My husband and I stayed recently in this B&B we were passing through this lovely rural part of Portugal. We booked quite late on the night of our stay and arrived into the village in the dark - without internet signal we were unable to find the B&B but after ringing and talking to I presume the owner, he very kindly sent the Housekeepers husband to find us which was very kind of him and they made us feel very welcome. We had our pick of the rooms available and chose the room in the front of the house. On arrival we had a tour of the house and it is indeed a charming old house. We slept very well and enjoyed our wake up call in the form of the bells from the old Church right beside the property. Our bed was very comfortable and the room / house was extremely clean. Plenty of hot water after a little wait and breakfast was the usual rolls, cold meat, cheese, croissants but with lovely fresh orange juice and lots of hot coffee and tea. We did spot the pool which is accessed down a few steps from the front door of the property but our itinerary didn't allow for us to use it on this occasion, Would I go back ? YES

Very helpful staff

This house is one of the most pleasant stages of our trip around Portugal. It is located in Zebras and not Fundao as it is written on some sites, look at the map. We leave delighted! Excellent price ratio. Our room was huge, very good bed, very quiet with a great view of the fields, large bathroom with bathtub, hair dryers, shampoo and gel shower offered, towels, large mirror. Everything is very clean, smells good even at night washing and is out of date. The hotel is run by a couple, their son finally translated into English. We found them with a kindness, they have time to advise us on the roads: a road: you're an old man.

Oh, that's great.

Not sure how we need up there but it was an interesting experience. We got there around 18:00, there was no sign and the door was locked. We thought we had the wrong place, asked around, drove around and finally the owners showed up and let us in. They let us pick our room as we were the only guess there that night. Zebras is a little agricultural community with the rooster that woke us up and the church that made sure that we wouldn't sleep before 22:00. We were afraid that it would go on like this the hole night but it didn't.
We had dinner in the nearby village before retiring for the night. Breakfast was typical portuguese style.

Interesting

Newly re-decorated manor house with large rooms (20+ sqm), large bathrooms, old stylish library, cosy living room and an outside 100sqm pool with 180 degree view of the farmlands of the east Estrela (mountains). The house is located in a very small town, on the south-side of a hill with a great view. Only 7 rooms available, and during the pre-holiday season (till end of June) you can be lucky to be the only guest and have all of the house for yourself! We paid 55 Euro incl. a solid breakfast and were allowed to use the outside pool most of the day even after check-out. Restrooms are available at the pool as well.
This is a very nice place for a quiet and relaxing holiday of just a stopover on your trip to the mountains. 
Be sure to use find a restaurant before arriving as there is nothing in the town of Zebras. Nearest restaurant is about 8km away.
