This is like a kind of cheap annex of the Carlton Hotel. In fact, the reception desk is located in the Carlton. Here the staff is quite friendly and helpful with indications (it's quite hard to find the tourist office in the town), especially with the public transportation needed to arrive to the several entry points of the National Park. I took a single room for 4 nights and a economy double room for other 2, as it was not possible to book the 6 nights altogether in the single one. But when I arrived I was told that the manager had arranged that I could stay in the same single room the 6 nights. Nice, but the difference paid for the economy double room was never returned (I've suggested to the officer that I could have a breakfast in compensation, but he replied that that was to be discussed with the manager, who seemed to be the invisible man that all the staff was afraid of...). The room was provided with soap, good set of towel, bed linen, a very warm duvet and cover. There was also a common balcony that can give you a good relaxation time while looking at the mountains, if you are in the front part of the builing , or at the trees in the parking place. The building is of good quality so you don't hear noises of neighbours, meaning you can have a good quality of sleep. Even if my room was leading to the parking lot, I didn't hear the cars, and I imagine that it was of the soundproofness of the window and balcony door. In the corridor you have a boiling kettle with coffe, tea and sugar. In a sense, you are "left alone" during your stay, as there's nobody coming to do the cleaning (you can throw your own garbage in the parking lot). If you need a change of towels you have to pay for it. So it's understandable that people ask for a fridge, as the way of "giving service" is just as renting an apartment to you. Single rooms are in the 2nd floor, so you will have to climb stairs that can be quite painful after 8 hours in the Tatras. The floor has carpet, so it can be kind of warm in case of hot weather, but you can leave the balcony's door open. Sockets were only 2: one in the bathroom and other below the table. No soap provided. But location is perfect: just 3 blocks away from the main (peatonal) street, and other 3 blocks away from the main road where buses pass by to go to Tatras. In these 2 roads you have restaurants and markets for food. The breakfast offered is the one at the Carlton's, where they can also prepare lunch, but no dinner. I was offered to keep my luggage there the last day and to use the lobby room for internet.

We stayed in the superior room, which was very well presented and clean with a lovely bathroom,however the bed was extremely uncomfortable and meant we didn’t have much sleep. I would assume the hotel was a smoking hotel as the room did smell of smoke. The hotel was in a good location for both the main strip of shops and the ski lifts.

We had a double room with the attached bathroom in Willa Excelsior. The room was very clean, with good wi-fi, good TV reception. The buffet breakfast with a wide variety of items was available at a cost at the adjoining Carlton Willa.
Daily buffet included cereals, cheeses, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, sausages, hot dogs, bacon, cold cuts, fish, salads, vegetables, fruits, breads, crepes, cakes, jams, honey, tea, coffee, etc. Lunch and dinner were also available after making earlier arrangements at the reception. The only problem we had was the wet towels. There were no provisions for drying the wet towels after taking showers.

We passed by Zakopane and stayed two nights in Villa Excelsior hotel - forget already "Excelsior", it is just a villa... We stayed for two days in two different rooms.

The first night was ok but the shower wasn't working at all - no hot water and no water pressure.
The first morning we went to eat the breakfast buffet at the other building - 5€/person. It is ok but we ate better and cheaper breakfasts in other places in the south of Poland... The "best" was when I asked the barmaid if they have a toaster and she replied to me with a very "polite": NO! I still don't know what was bad or how did I offend with my question.

Here comes the best part...

The second night we had to move from our first room - our fault, we came for 1 night but decided to stay one more night at the last minute.
The room we got was supposed to be a 4 ppl room but it was literally two beds and one little sofa. If you have two small children with you it will be fine - forget if you are 4 friends willing to sleep in the same room.

The cream of the cream?

Before we left, the girl at the reception - with the support of her MANAGER and the OWNER of the "hotel" - wanted me to pay something that was in bad shapes and that broke when I use it. I felt like they were trying to scam me. I tried to explain to them that is not how superior hotels are working and that is a VERY VERY BAD CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. They were asking me to pay 700 Zt - after a little research I found out the price was way CHEAPER so they put down the price at 500ZT. All I was about to receive if I accepted to pay was a blank page with one sentence written in polish and the signature of the girl - maybe she was a famous singer in Poland...?
I still didn't want to pay so they CALL the police. I felt an animal hunted.

End of the story?

The police came and they said I was totally in my rights and it was illegal what the hotel was doing. They wasted one hour of my time and my entire trust in the hotel.

Resume of my stay there? Luckily for me that the police in Poland is great and you can trust them. They are very professional not like people working there.

Horrible service - worst night of my polish trip

Perhaps I would opt for giving this hotel a 3.5 rather than a 4 however in my time in Zakopane I came to realize that most of the same level hotels have more or less the same standard.  Zakopane is beautiful so you should not spent so much time inside.   This hotel is more like a block of rooms managed by the nearby Carlton hotel.  In fact breakfast is served in the latter.  My most negative comment is about the lack of lift since we had a room in the top floor and you really start feeling the steps after a good meal or when taking up luggage.  I would advise to either book a lower floor room or else find another hotel with lift.  It was in July where temperature where really hot and the room did not have any conditioner or ventilator however at night with windows open one could sleep really well. The location of this hotel is great since it is by a park and very close to the main street where loads of restaurants are available.  The room was kept somewhat clean.  Ok for 3 days but not for more.  Breakfast is good , just enough to have you going for the day .  Reception was extremely helpful at all times with given directions and assistance whenever we needed so overall there are some shortcomings but none impacted negatively our stay in Zakopane.

Good Location and Good Service overall

I spent 2 nights in this Villa as I was visiting Poland for a few days during the Christmas time.
This facility doesn't have a reception and any info should be requested from the Hotel next to it, which probably belongs to the same owner.
There is no elevator for the floors, so better to avoid higher floors if you are bored taking the stairs.
During the 2 nights that we have spent there, there was no replacement of towels, only fixing of the bed and I guess cleaning of the floor.
The room was very basic with quite outdated furniture. But it was warm and the bed was quite comfortable. The curtains didn't block the sun efficiently in the morning and there is no hard cover for covering the windows. There is no special view from the window and there are many similar villas on both sides of the street of the hotel. Also, it's a very quiet area and don't expect any open shops nearby after 8-9Pm.
The main street of Zakopane with restaurants and shops  is 7-10 minutes away by foot.

Budget hotel in beautiful Zakopane

Checking in here can be a bit confusing as there are actually two hotels here, and the reception is in the nearby hotel , the Carlton. The rooms were huge, and well equipped with sofas and chairs. Our room had a balcony with a great view of the Tatras, at least when the rain cleared. Breakfast offered a great range of choice. This was clearly a popular hotel, and  is recommended.
