After 5 months travelling around South America with my boyfriend, his farther came out to visit us for 2 weeks and booked us 2 nights stay at this lovely little home. The food, the views from the casa and the hospitality were all brilliant. We had a lovely relaxing stay with this wonderful family. We also took a little hike up to Patchamama which I highly recommend. Thank you for having us Fernanda & Luis, we wish you all the best for the future. X 

The home is simple, and guests have private rooms. The view and location are amazing. The home is located steps from the lake. Late afternoons on lake beach while sheep graze is priceless. No internet, no tv, completely disconnected and it feels amazing. Food is great and Sra. Fernanda and the rest of tha family are great hosts.

Fernanda's son studied tourism so he took us on a tour around the island. 


This is a cute homestay in a little island on Lake Titicaca. There are a handful of private rooms on the property, but one common bathroom (which is the case for most homestays in Amantani). The bathroom is clean and since not too many tourists go to Amantani, you may as well have it all to yourself. 
There is hot water to shower, which was important as its quite cold here at night. Bring your own soap/shampoo etc.
There were extra blankets, so I slept well. They don't have regular electricity on this island, and instead use solar energy to power lights in the room etc. They rely on an inverter or battery to charge phones; best to bring your power bank or you may have to pay 2 soles for charging your phone.   
Senora Fernanda, the host, is a treasure trove of information about the local culture and their way of living...but you'd need to speak Spanish to communicate with her.
The island is small, and you can see most of it in a day. The main thing here is to see a different way of living...almost going back to the basics. If I had more time, I would have stayed a second night.
