Avoid this place at all costs.  This was hands down the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel in my life.  Freezing cold showers and the staff was dreadful.  We explained to the front desk that our shower was cold and that we didn’t want to stay another night if it would continue to be cold.  They assured us that the water would be warm and it still was not so I asked them if they thought it was fair for us to still pay full price for the room.  So they offered us a $3 discount!!  Embarrassing.  We agreed to pay the full price despite feeling like we were getting completely ripped off.  I handed over my credit card and the lady at the front desk had no idea what to do!  After waiting for 10 minutes for her to figure out the card machine, I decided to give her all the cash we had left and asked for my card back.  We didn’t have enough cash to cover the full amount so we said we would try again with the card in the morning.  At this point we were so upset with the service and needed to get to our room to pack for our early morning flight.  The next morning when we went to checkout there was nobody behind the front desk to check us out.  Another great example of the horrible service at this place.  We didn’t know what to do since we had to catch our flight so we left our keys and went outside to get a taxi.  When we got to our gate the police were waiting for us and accused us of not paying.  We ended up paying the police cash and were left feeling shocked at the whole experience.  DON’T EVER STAY HERE!

HORRIBLE!!! WORST SERVICE EVER!

We stayed two night as part of Exodus "Peru Explorer" trip. Having just seen a previous review from a couple of years ago it is obvious there has been no improvement. Why is Exodus still using this aweful hotel it wasn't even the one advertised in the itinerary. 

Avoid. The only positive thing I can say about it is that it's not too far from the central plaza 10 minute walk. Where do I start. No lifts, but then that is typical of Peru. Our first room was basic beyond basic. Light didn't work in the bathroom. The room had been stripped of all essentials including a lamp. Tired, old depressing. They moved us. The second room was no better apart from that the bathroom light worked. The furniture was old and broken, no lamp, so we had to get out of bed to turn the light off. The carpet was stiff and dirty and the view out of the window was internal and horrid. A prison cell would have been an improvement.

There was no hairdryer. I went to reception, with wet hair and asked for one. There was only one in the whole of the hotel! Which I then had to pass to others so it could be used.

Staff were unhelpful and disinterested.

Breakfast was very poor with little option and very unappetising. Shame as Arequipa has a lot going for it as a city

Great Hotel, our room was comfortable and everything was very clean. There was coca tea and other drinks at the lobby. It includes a good breakfast but if you're still not used to the height I wouldn't suggest not consuming any dairies. It's really close, like a 5 minute walk, from the historical plaza.

Another hotel which doesn't even try its best:
- my room was stripped beyond basic, when I don't even have a lamp on my bedside table and the only source of light for reading comes from a lamp stuck on the ceiling I feel treated like a chicken in a battery cage
- both hairdrier and TV remote have to be requested at reception. Not just that, I got a call to my room at 6.40am to get the hairdrier back, was it the only one within the hotel? Did they think it was alright to wake me up at such inurbane time for that??
- clearly the unrequested wake up call was not welcome, anyway I had little to no chance to sleep anyway: their cleaners belong to the category which sees guests as a burden or an obstacle, and make every possible noise to kick them out of their room. The same guy tried to get into my room twice while I was trying to sleep (twice! Can they not get the list of check-outs from reception,  or use memory??)
- on top of it, breakfast is served by the waiters (Vs buffet), which sounds special but effectively makes you totally dependent on people with no sense of urgency. Bottom line: I had to leave without having had sight of my omelet 20 minutes after placing the order
- another really unpleasant but unfortunately common trait among hotels across peru is lack of black out curtains

No effort

Stayed 2 nights in hotel as part of Exodus trip "Peru Explorer" - very mediocre hotel five and half blocks from the central plaza (Plaza de Aamas).

Hotel in middle of renovations. Given Room 304 but no lift (or bellboy) so had to carry our own bags up two flights of stairs.

No view from room as window overlooked central atrium above dining room. Room basic with small TV on wall. Cable TV was all Spanish, apart from BBC News channel in English.

Water pressure was weak and water didn't get warm although other rooms had plenty warm water. Internet was slow but worked in room.

Décor is dated, particularly the bedroom and dining room but hotel in middle of renovations - this meant lots of banging during day, smell of paint and unable to use outside space because this was full of decorating equipment. Even some drilling noise in middle of night.

Tour guide arranged for hotel to do laundry but we had to provide our own bag for laundry as none provided and they managed to lose the bag as not returned with our laundry

There is no breakfast buffet here so you are totally dependent on the staff to bring out the food and drink. They do make eggs for you but only if you ask. There is a cup of yogurt, coffee, bread, butter and jam and fresh juice. The usual ham, cheese, fresh fruit and pastries normally served with the buffet breakfast are missing here.

A sign behind the front desk reads US$75 for a double room but no-one would pay rack rate during renovations. There must be better value out there in a big city like Arequipa.

In middle of renovation, very poor breakfast - avoid

I was on the second floor and there was a lot of street noise. No elevator that I could find so you need to be able to carry the luggage up stairs. (Apparently no bell boy either.) The breakfast was eggs, rolls and juice. Not much selection but it tasted fine. The hotel was clean and looked nice. There were lounge areas on the different floors so you could sit with friends or read. The woman at reception did not speak much English.
