We came to the beach as an afternoon trip from Leon and stumbled upon this restaurant in the foreshore. The restaurant has great views into the beach and is nicely appointed. We chose the fish cerviche and mango and chicken salad. The Cerviche was the best we have had since Mexico and the mango salad was also delicious and a generous serving. Prices were reasonable and a little cheaper than the bar next door. We only had around 40min before our bus left and were grateful that the meals came out promptly within around 10min. We highly recommend having a bite to eat here when in Las Peñitas.

Simply Fantastic

This was our second time at this hotel. The location is perfect, the rooms are simple and clean and the staff are great. 
The food at the hotel restaurant is yummy and well priced compared to other places around. Great value for the experience!
We visit Nicaragua every year, and we will surely be back again at Simple Beach Lodge.

Amazing stay

La Penitas is a great beach with enough places to eat, do yoga, have a beer and meet new friends without having to cope with loud parties all night, every night. 

Ada and the crew at Simple Beach Lodge makes you feel at home from the moment you step in! Good food and drinks and the breakfast included is the traditional Nicaraguan breakfast but at its best! 

We stayed in the ”Casita” room with the bedroom one floor up. We love the set up with the view over the beach and waking up with the sunlight in the morning. 

If you surf this is the place too! You can literally chuck your board into the water from the accomodation! And better yet you have the surfbreak right infront of the hotel! 

In short: We would recommend this place to everyone and anyone who is looking for a place with a nice vibe, great location and genuine feel.

Just great!

I'd researched the accommodations in Las Peñitas and decided to go with Simple Beach lodge. Didn't make reservations ahead of time because it was the low season and expected to have vacancies when we arrived. Due to scheduling and a very long trip coming from Corn Island, after the bus left Bluefields at 4:00 pm, we called the hotel to inquire about assistance with a taxi or driver to collect us at the bus terminal in Managua. After agreeing on a reasonable price we agreed, and on arrival in Managua we were met by the private driver met us at 10:30 pm and off we went to Leon and Las Peñitas. That was going beyond anything that could be expected. On arrival at the hotel, we were given the oceanfront room. The next morning we needed to change rooms as the oceanfront room had been reserved. We chose the Maderas room, the third room from the ocean. The largest, it was perfect. We paid for another 7 nights and were quite happy with the room.
Breakfast was delicious, the service was prompt and courteous. The room was impeccably cleaned when we asked for it, and we were left alone when we slept in. We needed assistance with arranging transportation for a day trip and a taxi on the morning we left. The staff went above and beyond to help make the visit to Las Peñitas perfect. Their location in front of the beach and the large rock outcropping is the best in the beach, with a calm location to swim or surf. When we return, we'll definitely return to Simple Beach Lodge. Thanks for everything!

An excellent choice

We spent the whole day here chilling out, eating, drinking and swimming. Rally chilled vibe with decent wifi. They also have good facilities like bathrooms and showers that you can use. Also the prices are decent 

Great spot to relax 

I went to this place every single day.  Perfect spot for breakfast in the morning as is sits right on the beach and serves one of the better tasting coffees in Las Penitas.  The owners Matt and Ceecee could not be any cooler!  As a bonus, their adorable son Kai blesses the guests with smiles, fist bumps, and high fives during the day.  Love this spot!  Comfortable rooms, eco friendly, and super clean.  Loved it!

Great spot on the beach with amazing staff and great food!

Nicaragua is currently experiencing a political crisis, after the reform of the social security law, students and other people raised in protest in the main cities of Nicaragua. Tourist industry is greatly affected, most hotels and restaurants are closed. You can still feel safe and enjoy Nicaragua, especially if you are a fan of lonely beaches and want to learn about Nicaragua’s history in the making, it’s the perfect time to be in Nica.

In June-July, I stayed for 10 nights in the Miramax room and it was perfect, very relaxing, lots of yoga and meditation. The room was nice and clean, not luxurious like a resort, but had a mosquitoes net, shower and bathroom. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Melba and her family, who stayed downstairs, took care of my needs. The location was perfect for getting around by foot and the food and beach were fantastic! Playa Roca was next door and had delicious food $4-6. I was the only tourist on the beach for most days, and all town’s hotels and restaurants were closed expect an Italian restaurant. It  was open for my birthday on a weekend and I had good pasta and tiramisu. Can't wait to go back!

The owners were away in Costa Rica but very responsive via email and arranged a private driver for $150 round-trip from/to Managua airport. Overall, it was a great experience, can't wait to go back!
 
Warning: don’t leave your purse on the beach unattended, a guy tried stealing mine while I was collecting sea shelves. Probably, it would be safer to keep it in your room. Also, bugs, little vampires, ate me alive in spite of multiple creams and sprays. 


Relaxing time in Las Penitas

My husband and I went here for only one night and we wished we stayed longer. The food was sooo good, the room was nice, and best location on the beach in my opinion. We got really good recommendations from the people who work there. The restaurant is a great place to hang out. Loved it here!

Excellent location and great food

Stayed here for 4 nights. Great spot on the beach the staff are great friendly and very helpful, food is good too!!  Room was very clean. It is a nice spot for down time.  Las Peñitas is a very nice small quiet town and I feel very safe here. It is very easy to catch the bus in Leon from here. I would definitely stay here again.  If staying here be prepared that everything closes early.

Great beach

I had a reservation in miramar and i had to cancel then rebook with matt.however because i had canceled because of the rebook was given a room in the hostel section of the hotel which was all that w a s available for friday.it was interesting nice clean private room with a fine planned bathroom with outside shower.very refreshing.my only issue was change this policy to anybreakfsst since all 4 breakfasts are the same price on the menu.this is an easy fix i believe and necessary.
The matt was very helpful to me since i was researching a beach home rental he answered all my questions rapidly and his english is excellent.the staff were very attentive and sweet.i was pleasantly surprised by the room and stayed there 2 nites.i will recommed the hotel when i have visitors from managua and the states
