We stayed for one night and sought alternative accommodation for a second night. Although on first impression the motel was clean, the cupboards and drawers could have done with some attention, and we decided not to use the oven as it appeared as if it hadn't been cleaned for months. 
The one good thing about these motels was that they were in walking distance to a restaurant although not the centre of town. 
Over priced for older accommodation. Disappointing.

Mediocre accommodation

We were booked to spend 4 nights here. Then, all Canadians were recalled to Canada by the Prime Minister. We had to cancel with less than 24 hours notice. The motel had every right to charge us for at least one night's stay, or even all 4 nights, but they did not. Pete was extremely compassionate and understanding as to our plight.  
Everything we read about the motel online had convinced us to stay there, we are very disappointed to miss out on visiting New Plymouth. Again, thank you so much for your compassion Pete, and we hope your motel continues to do well during this stressful time.

Didn't get to stay here, BUT...

Although an older motel, our unit was spotless and very comfortable, and perfectly located for us as we were within walking distance of other family.  We had a 2 bedroom unit, beds were comfortable and the quiet location meant a good night's sleep for everyone.  Would definitely stay here again.

Spotless and comfortable

The motel is in quiet location but not close to the city centre, the motel has very clean rooms and very good kitchen ware . First class bedding and the hot is hot very obling owner and in a nice area ,Worth the stay, needs a new drayer

What a complete surprise and pleasure to stay. 
Extremely quiet, tucked down a driveway on quiet street. 
Absolutely immaculate. 
Older style but please don't be put off by that.
And it has aircon! 
Owners should be very proud of this place.

Absolutely immaculate&quiet

Basic , suitable accommodation for the weary traveller. Clean rooms with plenty of room to move with all the mod cons. Situated in a quiet street. The owner was friendly and welcoming. Every room has a parking space.

Suitable accommodation

Our rooms were very clean and comfortable. A heat pump and electric blankets keep you warm. The motel is nestled in a quiet spot surrounded by a few residences and bush. There is access to a path which takes you to the coast.

Excellent value in a pleasant setting

Great for the short stay that we had to make for a tangi.  This motel is basic but clean.  Nice quite street right next to native bush.  Beds were comfortable.  We had a two bed unit which gave us extra space.

Quite street

Stayed here for 2 nights. We didn’t know what to expect with New Plymouth and we found the whole town and surrounds to be great.
The motel is back from the town a little in a quiet spot which was nice. It is an older property. A lot of the reviews go either way with this place so we weren’t really sure how it would be. The reception was cramped and to be honest it smelt, not sure what of, but it wasn’t nice. When we went to our room all we could smell at the door was cat pee. It was very strong and unpleasant. We couldn’t leave the door open or open the windows as the smell would just come in.
Inside was 2 bedrooms which was good. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was ok. The bathroom was dated and could do with a freshen up.
After reading some more reviews while we were there we discovered that there was a cat living at the property which would account for the smell. It’s not a great thing to have your motel smelling like cats it was very off putting. If it hadn’t been for this it would have been a really relaxing place to stay.
