What a lovely home. It was relaxing, tranquil and beautiful. Bruce and Denise are meticulous. Everything about our visit was about attention to detail, from beautiful decor to the glass of port at bedtime. The breakfast was better than a cafe. I wish I could live here! If you want a relaxing place to stay this is the place for you.

Perfect treat for friends

Cute little artsy place to stay with a delicious breakfast option. The host Mila has a great energy about her and has the place absolutely clean and spotless. The beds are very cosy and the view of the ocean is very calming in the mornings to wake up to.

I was looking to rejuvenate after stressful months and this is exactly what I needed. 

Location is pretty close to the beach matudoro for surfing (5 min drive)

Peaceful surf getaway with a view

If you are staying in the Matamata area, this is an experience that is not to be missed!  We were here for two nights while visiting Hobbiton, and enjoyed our stay here almost as much as the Hobbit Banquet!  Denise and Bruce are warm and welcoming innkeepers who go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable.  They are very familiar with the area and can help with excursion suggestions and directions. Former art gallery owners, their home is filled with their stunning and eclectic personal art collection and the beautiful breakfast is not to be missed!  We look forward to a return visit to this lovely bed and breakfast.

Beautiful B & B, Beautiful Hosts, Beautiful Experience!

First of all, Denise and Bruce are first class hosts; very personable.  The accommodations are top notch and their attention to detail for all amenities is incredible; great attention to detail to entertain guests.  Beautiful artwork, comfortable beds, wonderful continental  breakfast, especially Bruce's homemade exquisite croissants! Oh, and their three Alpacas, Cloo, Freya , and Madonna, just add to the ArtHouse's inviting atmosphere.  Loved this place!

Fools if You Don't Stay at the ArtHouse B&B

To be honest, when we first drove up and saw the ranch style home I wasn’t sure if it would be as nice as some of the big B&B stays I’ve had here in the states. I like art but I mostly picked the place because I wanted a better experience than just a hotel room for one of our places to stay. 

As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted and personally walked through all the accommodations. We quickly realized that the setting was very cozy and the farm style acreage was exactly the quiet break we needed from the rush of our vacation. We ran into town and had some amazing dinner, came back and just hung out on the back patio enjoying the view and my daughter even got a chance to feed one of the alpacas! Breakfast was right on time and a wonderful fresh experience with hot croissants right out of the oven.

Excellent Hospitality

Great experience at the Arthouse B&B. Denise and Bruce could not do enough for us during our stay there. Our room was v comfortable (Swan Room) and the breakfast was delicious. Five Star rating from us.

Arthouse B&B

We stayed for one night when visiting Hobbiton.  Denise and Bruce gave us a warm and friendly welcome to their home.  A fantastic place to stay.  Lots of art around to provoke thought and conversation.  Plenty of places outdoors to relax and enjoy some relaxing time at any time of the day - in sun or shade.  Well thought out.  The bedroom was very comfortable. The property is not far from Matamata where you can go for dinner in the evening.  The clear sky at night gave us time for excellent star gazing, chilling after a long day.  Breakfast served by Bruce was wide ranging, locally sourced and a healthy start to the day.  Loved it.  We did not go hungry!  Great place.  Great value.

Warm and friendly place to stay

This is a perfect place to stay if you like a great quiet night's sleep and an extremely clean room.   ArtHouse is in the middle of dairy farms, so it is very quiet at night.   However it is just a short drive to the town of Matamata for dinner or to Hobbiton for the tour.   We had six in our group, so we had the whole house for our stay.   Breakfast was delicious.   Wish we could have stayed more than one night.

Wonderful Stay - Quiet and Close to Hobbiton

We had an excellent stay at the Arthouse in Sally’s room. Very convenient and cozy. Enjoyed the hospitality from Bruce and Denise. Breakfast options were fabulous as well. We would not hesitate to stay again and will recommend this place to others!

Warm and inviting!

We’re enjoying a relaxing stay here with Bruce and Denise.  Gorgeous B&B with super amenities.  Would absolutely recommend to anyone headed this way for the Hobbiton tour.  5 star service and the alpacas are such good entertainment.
