We actually stayed at one of Whale Shark inn's competitors inns  - Chill Holidays Maldives - because our room was not available since other guests stayed longer than their reservation was for. But, Ahmed was awesome with making all the arrangements at an equally very nice inn. He met us at the airport, got us checked in, then proceeded to give us a 2 hour tour of his home island! And for our trouble for changing the reservations, he took us to his home for dinner! Dinner and his family were wonderful, and we felt honored to be invited and served at his home! This was a very special experience that we will treasure!

Ahmed was the best!

We were there as part of our honeymoon. We both love diving and snorkelling and we weren't disappointed. From picnics on a deserted island to chasing whale sharks and manta ray, the Inn was accommodating with everything that we wanted. Nafiz helped us with organising everything we wanted. He even took me to the doctor when I was unwell who was able to prescribe me with antibiotics for a chest infection. Heider took care of our rooms and made sure we had fresh towels everyday after our water activities and that we had plenty of water. He also made sure we were fed well but a word of warning, don't play chess with Heider unless you want to be beaten :P. 

We stayed there a week, it was very relaxed.. like a family atmosphere. There are only 4 rooms, and we became fast friends with another couple who we went on trips with us. Everything was amazing. The Maldives is truely spectacular and what a location to be so close to everything that's wonderful. From going on romantic picnics, to sunset fishing trips or a visit to the nearby resort for a few drinks, there was always something to do. On our trips we swam with a whale shark, swam with a group of 7 manta rays, saw pods of dolphins, reef sharks, nurse sharks, turtles, sting rays, turtles, octopus... you name it...  even a group of eagle ray which I'm told was a very lucky sighting.

Whale Shark Inn was an unforgettable experience and it will certainly stay in our hearts for a long time to come.

Unforgettable Trip

It was the first guest house experience in the Maldives we had and it was better than expected. The hosts were absolutely lovely, very helpful and made our stay enjoyable by organizing everything around our time frame, budget and bucket list things to do.
If you are traveling on a low budget but still want to see whale sharks in south ari atoll and are interested in local Maldivian culture, this is where you need to go. It’s a quarter or less of what you’d usually pay at overpriced resorts.

There are also several free time activity options for you to do, such as :

Take a 2 Minute ferry ride to nearby holiday island resort (25$ day use fee pp/ after 6 pm free) and have a drink, dinner, use their facilities , beach and watch the shark feeding every night at 9 pm

Do any of the excursion that resorts are offering for much cheaper rates, whale shark trips, dive trips, sandbank dinners, fishing , island hopping etc 

There is a bikini beach for everyone non Muslim to go to and lounge , sunbathe and ‘be in a bikini’.  5 Minute walk from guest house.

The guest house offers home delivery / food order service from their preferred restaurant that has a pretty big menu . Otherwise there are several local restaurants around . 

Supermarkets are available as well.

Walk around the Harbour in the late afternoon near the shipwrecks and you’ll see turtles, stingrays, nurse sharks and more within the lagoons.

Nafiz and Haider were lovely and thank you guys for your efforts.

Great experience and would definitely recommend to any Maldives lovers.

Great value for money paired with lovely local hospitality

My wife and I were in Madives for a week and wanted to see a little bit of the local side of the country so we stayed in Maamigili for a few days. There aren't a lot of options as far as hotels go, I believe there are only two or three small hotels on the entire island.

The hotel arranges your flight/boat ride (separate charge) to the island and also offers a free shuttle ride to the hotel once you arrive. The hotel itself is nestled in the middle of town where the locals live so it definitely had a different feel than a resort hotel would have. The hotel is walled off to offer a bit of privacy from the neighbors. When you walk in the front gate, you will be in a small sandy courtyard with some chairs and tables if you want to just hang out in the sun. There is also a small outdoor dining area/kitchen where meals are served. The building itself is basically a small house with four bedrooms and a small shared common area. The rooms are fairly spacious, clean, and have strong AC units (it was quite hot when we were there, so this was nice to have). It also comes with a safe to lock your valuables and a small refrigerator. There is wifi but the speed isn't very good. I wouldn't count on it for anything more than just some basic internet surfing. The hotel isn't the fanciest place but good enough if you just need a place to rest and sleep. The beach is about a 5-10 min walk away (ask about the tourist section. They have some lounge chairs and umbrellas set up there.). There are also a few local restaurants and shops within walking distance.

The service from the staff is where this hotel really shines. There is always someone around 24/7 to help you with basically anything you need. They can help you with anything from showing you around town to cooking a requested meal for you if you buy the ingredients. They can also arrange pretty much any excursion you would like and schedule it for whenever you want.

As I mentioned above, this is not the fanciest place if you are looking for a 5 star resort with a bunch of amenities. From the outside, it is just a small building surrounded by dirt roads and not a lot of obvious "touristy" things to do. If you are ok with a simple and clean place to sleep and are willing to be a bit more adventurous, this place is great.

We had an amazing stay at the guesthouse and would definitely recommend it.

Nafiz is very professional. He came to pick us up at the airport. He immediately showed us around the island. Nafiz and Heider are extremely cooperative and go out of their way to make u feel comfortable.
Location ****
Situated in the local community which gives you the chance to see how the real maledivian life is.
Lodging ****
The room was very spacious and cleaned properly everyday, only one point of comment is that the beds are pretty hard.
Food***
Breakfast was lovely. You can choose continental or Traditional Madivian breakfast (roshi and mashuni).
The food gets delivered by a nearby restaurant, Vivaz. The sandwiches for lunch were ok, but for diner we preferred the fresh and tasty food of the green park café (around the corner).
Tip: go to Vivaz for a real good illy coffee.
Excursions*****
The excursions to local islands/snorkeling were one of the best ways to see the natural wonders that the Maldives have to offer. 
Higlight was the manta ray snorkeling. Still I would suggest to go and dive when going to manta point, because you get a much closer encounter when diving. 
Unfortunately we did not see any whale sharks. I was told that it had been several weeks that the whale sharks were nowhere to be seen. 
Tips: 
- spend a half day on the Holiday Island resort (entrance is 25$). They make great Mai Tai cocktails at the reggae bar. Around 4pm you see a few baby reef sharks passing by. 
-At the harbor, behind the mosque, you can do some amazing snorkeling for free. We saw huge stingrays, turtles, white tip reef shark and lots of fish.
