This lodge with bungalows spread around is only a 5 minute walk from the center of the community, but feels like being in nature. Their bungalows are totally fine, the restaurant area is absolutely cool with an amazing view on the near by river and the elephants taking a daily bath. Good possibilities for hikes up along the river and a refreshing swim... Only a few minutes walk away the village offers some cafes and restaurants, as well as low priced guest houses, and if lonely up in nature; head down here to socialize, eat, drink and have a bit of fun with the young crowd hanging around.

In nature

While the falls are not that spectacular, one can actually swim a bit in the river section close to the lodge where the current isn’t that strong. Our 8 year old enjoyed his “dip” very much. 
The restaurant in the lodge is very pleasant offering a good view to the river. Food offer was good and tasty, overall we had a pleasant couple of hours there.

Family friendly

the location of this lodge and restaurant is awesome, a reason to visit and swim down at the river where small waterfall and natural pools are surrounded by green bush with elephants. food and cleaningness is average.

We had a very bad stay there!!!  We stayed at the economy room which was the cheap option in this hotel but much more expensive than the other places in Tad Lo. 
First of all, the door doesn’t lock properly so children that live nearby opened the door and entered our room. 
The net on the window that is supposed to protect from mosquitos had big holes, so at night our room was filled with mosquitos, cockroaches and other  creatures and the toilet floor and seat were covered with bugs so we had to go TO THE FOREST instead!!! 
In addition , the smaller disadvantages are that the bed sheets aren’t so nice, most of the electric plugs don’t work. 
When we came at 11 PM to the reception there was absolutely no one there (wouldn’t be such an issue if the place wouldn’t claim to be high quality). 
Eventually we got some of the money back.

Bad experience, not worth the money at all. 

We didn’t stay at the Tadlo Lodge, but we went there to see the elephants bathing in the river. Unfortunately, all we saw were two chained up elephants that seemed unhealthy and very sad. They stood on hard ground, couldn’t communicate with each other and just didn’t seem happy at all. That’s why we really disliked the place.

As the sun went down we had to look for a hotel. The Tadlo Lodge looked nice from the street so we went there. Unfortunately the good impression soon faded away: Besides the manager nobody of the staff speaks any English. After a long wait the manager confirmed that they had vacancies (although from the approx. 10 cabins, only 3 were occupied) and one of the mopish employees showed us the cabin which stands in a small forest. The dinner in the hotel's restaurant was okay. On the next day we spotted two very sad-looking elephants chained to trees in the hotel's park. If we knew that they promote elephant riding we would have avoided this place.

Went via the lodge in order to visit the waterfalls. Was very sad and disappointed to see elephants wearing chains & being used for rides. Having visited mandalao near luang prabang where they show another way to respect & live with elephants, it was upsetting to see the elephants treated like this.

In the morning and late afternoon they go into the river with an elephant for washing, just to entertain tourists. They climb on the back of the elephant riding it into the river. Elephants are not for riding and should't be chained.

Go there if you want to see chained elephants... We left as soon as we saw this freak show. It's 2019. I don't care if it's a safety issue or not but this is really bad publicity for such a "resort" hostel.

The resort, if one could call it that lacks all modern facilities. This is not a place to stay if you actually wish to relax in any comfort. 
1) No internet in rooms, this is due to the fact they do not have enough routers!
2) Rooms have a rotating fan which you can not direct, so you the room and importantly yourself is hot.
3) No gym.
4) Poor service, staff are not trained properly. You have to call them to your table to bring menus or remove plates...... this happens even if you are the only person there.
5) Room smelled of damp and you could see the damp patches on the wall, not good if you suffer from repository issues.
6) TV and sat box in my room only played Asian shows, not even an English news channel. 
7) Lack of care in the rooms, not enough toilet paper, batteries in remote not working. Nothing to kill the mozzies with. Mozzie nets repaired with plasters !!
I'm actually confused how any one with any standards can rate this place, I've stayed in better places in South Sudan! This is not an undeveloped country there is no need for the lack of care. All these issues can be dealt with by good management.
