Khamking Guesthouse

Was getting a bit disgruntled about being treated like cattle on the trip from Luang Prabang - from tuk tuk to minibus (a van) to tuk tuk. Every step of the way overcrowded and over 8 hours it's hard not to be affected. Still can't see why what was just a big car couldn't take us the extra 10kms. Was recommended Khamking by a travel guide I stopped in once arriving. As I had a friend arriving in the wee hours I thought the location (pretty much where the tuk tuk drops you) would be beneficial for her. Trying to explain the 'friend arriving later' scenario was...well it didn't work. English is an issue. But the people are lovely and the rooms (at least mine) were clean and spacious. For mine the cost is quite reasonable, especially as I got to share the 100 000 kip price. You can't be any more central also. Very good base to work out who you will do your hike with. Again, English is an issue but this is not Thailand. Also, beware the Akha women. They are relentless! (yet so full of personality).
