Couldn‘t find an adress to the Souksabay Guesthouse back in 2012, so Tripadvisor would not let me write any comment.
But hey, it works now.
The lady who is running the guesthouse ist quite nice and will help with any problems u may have.
Food is great, the spot toeat at aswell.
A terrasse on the Mekong river with a really sweet view!

Rooms are in a good shape.
Back then there was no TV - but hey, u‘ll not need it at all.

I just wanted to leave my 5 points for it. thx a lot. recommendation!



We had a really nice stay at this very clean and well constructed location. I carry a 12kg pack, but it does have a mosquitoe net because I hate mozzies. I didn't need it here as the screens were so good.
The food was also much better than Don Det...and we are vegetarians. Good service and friendly people in a real town.
It is a short 100 to 200 meter walk from the main town dock where you can be dropped off.
Great value.

We didn't stay at Souksabay but ate most of our meals at their restaurant, and hired bicycles.
In our opinion, the food was really good quality, with fresh ingredients and a good range. We recommend you try the Mok Pa (steamed fish) - it's delicious.
Souksabay is run by a lovely family, who are friendly and welcoming.

Rooms are  situated in the back, we had one on ground level. Not as spacious as next door (Pon River GH), the room was more "up to date" and clean as well.  Excellent (hard) bed. Basic amenities and everything in good working order, except for the TV ( least of our worries ...).  Parking available behind the GH; entrance via the nearby soi.
Restaurant is OK, though not as good as nextdoors at Pon's. Standard price 100.000LAK per night.  The GH also offers a (good) laundry service for 10.000 LAK/kg. Motorbikes for rent.

Very clean, good location on the quiet island with awesome food

Above average for D.Khongs GHs.

Stayed here for 2 nights,I had fan room for 60,000 a night,room was clean n tidy and had 2 bottles of free water.....I had food in restaurant and was nice enough,nice views from restaurant overlooking the Mekong....all the staff was nice n friendly except the young lad running the place,he needs to cheer up a bit and smile at people and try to be nice to them,a smile we are the people putting money in his pocket....from my opinion I wouldn't bother going to Don Khong or big island as they call it,head straight for Don Det or Don Khon,as there's not much to do on big island
