nice option, we got a room overlooking water, very peaceful.
nice check in process, good amenities, very nice open onsen and good idea to switch between the 2 onsens to make them male/female/male/female etc.
the dinner in the restaurant was ok. the breakfast, better.

Good option in this part of Hokkaido

We stayed for 2 nights with my son and parents.
Unfortunately the weather was not the best even though this hotel is famous for its ocean front view. Yet still their hospitality never made us bored or disappointed. All the staff were so welcoming and the hotel dog “Moco” is so cute to spend time with her. Hotel lounge is always open with morning/lunch/night drinks& snacks depending on the time of the day and it leads to the ocean view pass way. Jackets, hats, umbrellas and towels for outside foot bath are prepared at the pass way door in case the guests need them to stroll.

It’s a traditional ”Ryokan” style but some area is decorated with mid-century furniture and looks modern and stylish.
Onsen bath is very relaxing with full amenity prepared. You can even pampered with cold sorbet after Onsen!
Dinner and breakfast are simply amazing!
They looked beautiful and tasted fantastic.
I cannot think of any other choice for my next visit in Hokkaido.

Memorable stay with 5star hospitality

This is the best onsen hotel I had ever stayed in Japan. Not only excellent service, superb meals, clean and nicely set up onsen but the view is magnificent. 

Once you entered the lobby, you have the water front of Pacific Ocean view.

Staff are friendly and I was able to communicate in English.

The Japanese style suite I stayed was excellent. Some people may prefer western bed, they do have, however, why not try everything traditional Japanese while we are there.

Hotel has meal options, I do think you should select full board as there is nothing much around the areas even though it is accessible by public transport or hotel shuttle bus to train station.

The meal we had was the best ever, it looks good but taste delicious. Those are things that I do even know how to order in restaurants. Once you booked full board, they will ask you what time is the best for you to start. It really takes 1.5 hour or 2 hours to finish the whole course. If I remember correctly, restaurant closes at 8pm. 

Besides the meals, onsen is another highlight. It has both indoor and outdoor onsen. I was there in winter, so I tried outdoor onsen too. Not many hotel has this Pacific Ocean View outdoor onsen without anyone able to see you or walk in front of you.

People will ask what can you do if dinner finished so early. Well, it is about the same as everywhere else in Japan except big cities like Tokyo.  You still can enjoy onsen after dinner before you go to sleep.

Make sure you wake up early to see sun rise. They have information at the front desk telling you the exact time for sun rise next morning. Must see.

You will also discover there's a panel at the front desk telling you about how much electricity generated by solar power of the hotel at that time and how much from power energy company. While I was there, it's between 95% to 98% generated by hotels own solar power. Pretty green.

To choose room, must try Pacific Ocean View. Regardless floor level because nothing block your view.

When you want a traditional onsen resort experience, this is perfect.

Hot Spring Tour 

We were not expecting much with the stay, but were pleasantly surprised with how wonderful the Ryokan's setting, amenities and services are. One of the best onsen ryokan I have ever stayed at. 

The property is right next to a beach, with all the rooms having a view of the ocean. You are given the sunset and sunrise time which will give you dramatic view of the ocean. 

The artwork and interior designs are top notch with beautiful objects of arts and design classics. The onsen is wonderful, with both indoor and outdoor pools, the outdoors ez have dramatic view of the ocean.

The meals are wonderful with great cooking and thoughtful arrangement. Buffet breakfast has great selections, they then serve fruits and yogurt in the living room. Service is top notch and the mascot Moko is adorable.

One of the best.

Stayed in room 301 with panoramic sea view and Jacuzzi.. Beware all baths in rooms are not hot spring. Private bath sauna by booking is complimentary. Preferred the breakfast buffet over dinner although no yogurt or fruits served for breakfast. Scrambled eggs are hardened cold same for onsen eggs. Second night we skipped dinner and went back to norboribetsu for dinner. Imagine having fusion food like cold whole onion with tomato sauce. 

No tv wifi in room so you see guests hanging in lobby and veranda. The white golden retrievers do not seem to be welcoming of guests compared to those brought on by visitors. Serve cold coffee japanese soup after 430pm cos area not near any restaurants or convenience stores. 

Sauna bath old lady with short hair extremely rude and hushed us out even before time is up never bother explain sop even said ok to put smart phone and specs in the hot sauna room after which she reluctant ly pointed to the lockers which should have been part of sop. Hotel should fire her for such lousy impatient service. 

Dinner service extremely slow took close to 3 hours waited at least twenty minutes for two miserable pieces of fruit mochi. There's really not much to roam as you are done with the photo taking of sea front in less than five minutes. It's a very short stretch less than 30m long so over sold in photos. The private bath is bigger and newer on the right. Hotel should really invest in having hot spring baths in room for the expensive price they charge.
