Hotel 28 Hiroshima

The hotel's a 15-minute walk from Hiroshima station but it's well worth it. Our spacey minimalist Japanese room was covered with tatami mats, sliding doors, flat screen TV, a low wooden table and 3 pillows on the floor. A big cupboard for the bedding (futons), a smaller one for us with face towels, yakuta (house kimono), free toothbrush and toothpaste, and a tiny hallway with room slippers. A tasty Japanese or Western breakfast was included in the room price. There are toilets and washrooms on every floor, but showers only in the public bath. Big towels for the bath can be rented for 50 yen at reception. We stayed at a non-smoking floor. Wifi officially only in the lobby, but we managed to use it in our room too. Reception staff was very friendly and polite, their English sufficient for basic communication. A truly Japanese experience, not to be missed!
