Machiko-san was the best host! She was so nice, interested in us and shared her knowledge and stories. I was in awe of the rooms, so beautiful and clean. It was very authentic and relaxing and we felt at home and very welcome. Thank you Machiko-san for this experience

This stay was more than just a hostel

This review is long overdue. I did leave one on the site I made the booking but I know that many will search for this place here too. So, last October I stayed in this cosy and extremely clean place. Is very close to the famous pagoda and easy to go in all the places from which you can take photos of Mt. Fuji. You will meet and incredible kind owner. If you want to visit the area make sure you choose this place. I promise you, you won't regret it.

Lady was very nice and the rooms were very clean!

Really good guesthouse.  Just over a year old it's in great condition.Good bathrooms, good bunks and wonderful host. Took me to japanese drumming practice and I got to play with the group!Plenty of restaurants in the area if you want to eat out but if you give the host a couple of days warning you may be able to cook and eat Japanese food with her.About 10 min walk to Gekkoji station.Note: The location of the hostel on the Hotels.com map was not the actual location.  Make sure you check the location in a mapping program (e.g. google maps).

Great hostel - highly recommend

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful, traditionally themed guesthouse. The place was spotless, and had bathroom, kitchen, laundry and locker facilities as well as a communal, cosy living space. It is in a good location, within walking distance from two train stations and Fuji Q Highland. The owner was lovely, very friendly, chatty and helpful.

Excellent hospitality

I booked this hostel at the last minute, because I wanted to add an extra night to my winter vacation trip. The first couple nights I had stayed at a slightly more expensive hotel near Kawaguchiko Station, just a few stops away on the Fujikyuko Line.Compared to that hotel, Hostel Mt. Fuji actually had better wi-fi service, and a stronger shower. It was so refreshing to be able to jump in the shower after a day of hiking and not have to deal with low water pressure.I was also extremely lucky in that I was the only guest in the hostel that night. Even though I had only paid 3,000 yen for one bunk in a 9-bed dormitory, I ended up having the place all to myself. So the privacy was also a plus.This is a small hostel, just recently opened, with I think only one or two dormitories. From the road, it almost looks like a house. But everything in the building seemed new and clean.The owner, Machiko, spoke English well, and was extremely helpful during my stay. When I made my last-minute booking, I did not realize the hostel was so close to Chureito Pagoda, with its famous view of Mount Fuji. But Machiko-san gave me a map and directions for how to get there. (It's only about a 15-minute walk.) In the morning, she offered me coffee, and as a "winter service," provided me with bread and a boiled egg for breakfast.Overall, my experience at Hostel Mt. Fuji, while highly subjective, was very good, and I would certainly consider staying there again.

This one comes recommended ...

The hostel is new and clean; Stayed for 2 nights there; 5 of us stayed there- 3 in private room and another 2 in the dorm room. it's about 8-10 mins walk from Gekkoji Station; and the Arakura Sengen Jinja is roughly about 15-20 mins leisure walk from the hostel. 
The owner Ms Machiko is friendly and helpful. Gave us many helpful info on Fujiyoshida and surrounding areas - Lake Kawaguchi & Lake Yamanaka; bus from front of hostel to Fuji-san station and luggage storage at tourist info centre. We can get a wonderful view of Mt Fuji from the top floor of apartment building next to the hostel.

Clean n cosy hostel & wonderful host

The hostel is easy to find and it's walking distance near two stations. You can also walk to a famous 5 storey pagoda and see incredible views of Mount Fuji!

The hostel is traditional but it felt special and cosy. The host is wonderful and makes you feel at home! She gave us tips about places to visit and they didn't disappoint! 

The hostel is two stops away from Lake Kawaguchi which was beautiful and definitely worth a day trip (or two). Will stay here again when I'm in the area. Thank you!
