I vistied this small Ryokan (Japanese style hotel) the day before and on the day the Big earthqauke happened 11 Mar. 2011. It was far from Tokyou so that no affect on it, but I will never forget Shinkiya Ryokan in my life. I checked many hotels in Kannawa before visiting, because it was first time to go there ....and it was right choice! Even TV repoters were recording & interviewing in the hotel, that means the hotel is a bit more special than others. Rooms are clean, Baths are hot enough, and you can have an experience to cook with using Natural Hot Spring Steam ! (See my picture) . Some rooms have no toilette, so if you want to have it in your room, you’d better ask and choose it. The bus stop of Kannawa is close, Super market is also 10 minutes from there and you can walk to (one of ) JIGOKU, Japanese meaning 'Hell' which is Hot spring to visit, not take bath...it’s too hot! If the hotel had nice view, it would be perfect, but most Kannawa hotels do not have. Anyway you can enjoy Real Japanese style Ryokan!
