The location next to an orchard, above the valley of Merano, is great for hikes either towards Merano following the path next to irrigation channels, or to the paths higher on the surrounding hills, accessible via cablecars (some really "museum speciemens", great experience indeed :) Great free parking arround the hotel. As hotel guest you get a card allowing you to use the local bus system, which can help you to organize the hike without using your own car. As a group of old friend staying there for hiking, other aspects of the stay have not been so important for the choice of this hotel. Anyway, we liked the size of the appartment (which is without any facilities except fridge), the balconies to dry our wet clothes returning from the hikes, and breakfasts (great choice), one of us liked the swimming pool after the hikes. Did not like so much the food for the evening (soups and salads have been the best of 4 course dinners; however, the wine-list was really good). The hosts ... kind, patient with us (when having another round of wine after the dinner, outside in the garden), but not extremelly friendly or charming. Wifi in general not functioning, at least not in the way to send an email with a photo in less than in 10 minutes... useless really (reservation of the next stay took us more than half an hour instead of 1-2 minutes). Overal, would stay again, when hiking again :)
