The hotel is located just a few blocks from downtown, a nice simple walk to everything. Our room was very clean, nicely decorated with a lovely french doors opening up to a nice terrace/balcony as we were on the 2nd floor, surrounded by the light scent from the lemon and lime trees with abundant ripe fruit. In the morning, Joe Obino and his lovely wife, along with their very friendly & helpful staff would greet us with an impressive display of homemade cakes, sweetrolls, and breads made by Mrs. Obino herself, as well as fresh fruits, cheeses, meats, dried fruits, nuts, juices, coffee, etc.

This hotel is the perfect solution to stay in Carloforte. The location, although is not "central", is so close to the smal town center that takes only few minutes walking to reach it. The owners (a whole family) are great people, they take care of everything, they are funny yet helping. The Signora bakes everyday all the cakes for breakfast and every single thing on the buffet table is deliciuos... Our room was super clean, with all the things we could need during our  staying. I did like San Pietro Island, but I have to say that this hotel made the difference! Strongly recommended!!!

Lovely. 5 is not enough!

Our stay in the Hotel California in Carloforte was one of the highlights of our trip to Sardinia. Joe and his lovely wife were so warm and welcoming! 
Our room was on the 2nd floor and was a good size. We had a private balcony with a drying rack (very handy for our swimmers and beach towels!) and a bathroom with a good strong shower. The bed was a dream to sleep in - very firm!
All the rooms have A/C, WiFi and a flat-screen TV (very useful for when everyone takes an afternoon nap - il pisolino).
Breakfast was served in the cafe area at the entrance of the hotel and included a buffet of hot and cold items. There were cereals, yoghurts and fresh fruit as well as homemade cakes and naughty fried banana pastries which went very well with the delicious coffees!
Joe recommended 4 excellent restaurants around town and marked them on the handy maps they give out and his missus showed us where the best beaches could be found.
Even though we were there at the end of July most of the beaches we went to were not very busy which was perfect!
We were even alone when watching the sunset at the lighthouse.
We were very sad to leave Carloforte as it is a beautiful town and the locals were super friendly.

Wonderful guest house - great service!

Joe Obino, the owner of Hotel California, deserves high praise for helpfulness and honesty.  More than once, he went above and beyond basic hospitality to serve us.  
   Transportation from Cagliari to Carloforte can be very difficult and frustrating, especially when one speaks little Italian.  Joe arranged to have a good driver meet us at the Cagliari airport, so that we could avoid the difficulties of finding transportation during the busy Girotonno.  Our driver went out of his way to get us onto the fully booked ferry and arranged a second driver, who met us upon arrival in Carloforte and drove us to the hotel.  
    After departing Carloforte for Rome, we realized were missing a major credit card.  Joe learned that the card was at a local restaurant and retrieved it on my behalf.  Thanks to Joe and the good people at Ristorante l'Oasi, a situation which could have been very problematic ended with no harm done.  He went above and beyond basic hospitality to serve us.  
   As for the Hotel California, it was pleasant, quiet, clean, and comfortable.  Good breakfast too!  I look forward to returning for another enjoyable stay.

Hotel California is a very homey guest house ( despite the name Hotel)  at walking distance from the very heart of Carloforte but yet very silent, compared to many other venues which are located in the center but could be significantly noisy at night. In Hotel California great nights sleep are guaranteed! Besides, if you have your own car, it is easy to find free parking  nearby the hotel. The rooms are pristine and  very simple, like normal houses bedrooms, with en suite bathroom. Service is excellent compared to a 5 stars hotel: Perfect cleanliness, provision of bath towels, soaps and shampoo and last but not least, amazing breakfast with homemade cakes, cappuccino or coffee or tea,  fruits and prosciutto! The hosts are incredibly friendly and hospitable. they gave us the best tips for beaches and restaurants and they have always been very accommodating.
I really enjoyed my time there and I will always remember Carloforte thanks also to this great stay.
