B&B Al Parco Marenghi

We rode the funicular up from Como to Brunate, then decided to walk further up the mountain to the Volta Lighthouse. Little did we realize that this "walk" was a 60-minute hike, walking along a narrow mountain road, or on the unpaved pedestrian pathway (where available). Unsure how close we were to the lighthouse, we stopped at Al Parco Marenghi to rest and refresh. We were greeted warmly, and generously provided with a pitcher of cold water. Although we ordered only a single glass of white wine, our hostess Marguerite(?) surprised us with a plate of charcuterie, accompanied by a bowl of chips. Once we had recuperated enough to continue our journey to the lighthouse, a modest bill for the glass of wine was presented. Of course, we insisted on leaving a healthy tip, in acknowledgement of her generosity and hospitality. Her kindness and sweetness was a delightful surprise. Grazie mille volte!
