I’ve been on TripAdvisor for many many years and have always been honest with my reviews. After reading so many of the outstanding reviews I was convinced on the Knockeven House but I should’ve gone back further to 2019 to read a correct review. Although Pam is delightful and the breakfast and homemade scones are very good , the house has seen better days. It’s just a little tired and needs some sprucing up. 

Please don’t get me wrong. It was clean and comfortable but not a five star at this time. If we are not honest, how can you truly trust the reviews.

Being honest.

Huge house, big rooms, comfortable beds, one of the best hosts in Ireland, an amazing breakfast with so many options, I gorged myself into a food coma. A phenomenal location and place to stay. Dont hestitate to stay. 

Spend a day or two here, you will not regret it. 

Despite booking this accommodation over six months in advance, the hostess called frantically a month or so before our trip because she had overbooked. I cannot imagine we did not book first; however, we were booted out to a standard hotel - clean, friendly but noisy and sterile - definitely not the same environment we expected with a traditional Irish bed & breakfast. The host made the accommodation and our payment transferred over - I really expected she would have chosen a similar accommodation in which to place us. 

I’d have to say a no to this one purely out of a lack of reliability and a lack of care in choosing a back up plan.

Host Overbooked - Not Reliable.

Pam’s  welcome and care made this one of our favourite nights on our road trip. She made a reservation for us to eat out, chatted with us, made us tea and apple pie on arrival and cooked the best breakfast we had in Ireland with home made scones and soda bread. The room was large, clean and had everything we needed. The bed was so comfortable. The whole house is beautiful and so near to all you need in Cobh. We wanted to take this place and Pam with us everywhere we went!

The Best Stay in Ireland 🇮🇪

Pam is just a wonderful Host: accommodating, generally helpful ( especially with dinner reservations ) knowledgeable and truly LOVES Cobh ! The breakfast is quite good, our room had a beautiful view out of the enormous windows.  Bed was super-comfortable, and the linens are first class. You can walk in to town ( it took us 25 leisurely minutes ) but Pam will offer to drive you AND pick you up. Train stop into Cork is a 5 minute walk from the property ( we did visit there ) and were very happy that we chose Knockeven House as our base.  Cobh is charming and much quieter than Cork - which is a city - with all the noise and crowds.  Would definitely return to stay with Pam :-)

Pam is a charming hostess. We were welcomed with a glass of wine by the log fire. The room was amazing with huge windows, a comfortable big (pre-heated) bed and a nice clean bathroom.
Pam made us fantastic breakfast with homebaked bread, fresh fruit, eggs...
We also got plenty of good advice for visits and restaurants in the area.
We will definitely come back <3

Wonderful hostess in a fantastic house

Pam was the most gracious host! My wife and I stayed in Cobh for one night and landed on the Knockeven House. Pam had tea and coffee ready for us, our heated blankets turned on, and our curtains drawn! Breakfast was delicious, and Pam’s company thought our stay was lovely. We will stay again upon returning to Cobh!

Knockeven House was a beautiful old home.  Pam was an amazing hostess.  We were welcomed to a warm fire, beautiful bedrooms, the best breakfast, neighbors stopping by for a chat in a quiet. old area.  It was so fun! 

Wonderful Hostess! Beautiful Home!

We found this gem on Trip Advisor, read all the reviews, and booked our stay on our way to Cobh from Kilkenny. Pam, our host, phoned me right away to check our arrival time. We arrived in the dark, Google directed us one street up, but it was not hard to find and plenty of parking. Pam greeted us and brought us in to warm by the fire as she gave us the rundown of her beautiful and stately home. The room was huge, we had electric blankets to warm our bed as we went to dinner (which Pam booked for us!). The place was very clean and very comfortable. We slept like babies in the quiet and grand room as the November rain fell outside. The king sized bed was glorious. However, nothing beat Pam’s incredible Irish breakfast! Homemade soda bread and scones, smoked salmon, muesli, eggs, toast, coffee, tea, fruit. It was incredible! We also absolutely loved taking with another couple who stayed at the inn. Pam and her employee joined in our conversation. We loved the stories and welcoming energy of everyone. Pam also recommended some wonderful day trips, stops along the way to our next town, and places to stay and eat while in Kinsale. This has been an absolute highlight of our trip so far. Thank you to Pam, her staff, and the friendly Irish couple who joined us for breakfast!

Perfect Retreat for your Cobh visit

Pam and the Knockeven house were great. We would definitely stay again. So thankful we found it. Pam went above and beyond, booked dinner for us and made us feel at home. Super clean and comfortable. Loved the breakfast and home baked bread.
