This hotel is beautiful, wonderfully nice people, room was excellent and a cozy bed. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was one of the nicest we had on our trip. Breakfast was delicious and so many choices. Some folks complained about the hot water, don’t believe them! It was almost too hot. Rebecca at the front desk is welcoming and helpful and always a smile. The gardens are a must see. Such a relaxing stay after our first drive down from Dublin airport with the driving on the left! Please stay here you will enjoy yourselves!

Went for lunch in the restaurant with my American sister, brother in law and 8 kids!  The staff were lovely and  were able to accommodate a party of 10 with no problems at all.  The food was amazing we all loved it and very reasonably priced - we will be back as we are only in Graignamanagh!

Occasionally we treat ourselves when we get together and go for a meal at the Step House. 

Usually go for the lovely cosy bar restaurant which while cosy also has really nice features like the ceiling and unusual window to the court yard.

Really friendly accommodating staff who make you feel welcome.

Lovely food - currys, chowder, beef, fish. I nearly always go for the burger which is perfect, good size and juicy like a ‘Bunsen’ or a ‘Wowburger’. Really nice deserts too, had a lovely sorbet and fondant this time.

Also spend time here when they co host the Borris literary festival in the summer, where you listen to speakers in a lovely big function room with doors onto a patio garden.

A delightful surprise. Boutique hotel in a quiet Carlow village. Lovely garden for drinks or coffee. Warm welcome, superb bedroom, comfortable bar and an amazing restaurant with four star food and ambience.  
Only stayed one night- but we will return.

Loved our stay at the Step House. Gorgeous building with beautifully decorated rooms. Fortune enough to stay in the huge Penthouse with the most amazing views. 

Lovely welcoming fire in Reception, great breakfast and dinner. Sociable, traditional bar. 

Can’t wait to stay again.

I was invited to a wedding of a dear friend in Ireland.  The wedding venue was the Step House Hotel!  It couldn't have been a more perfect venue for this wedding.  We were the only wedding there and had the space to ourselves.  Guests were welcome to all the common spaces and the outdoor garden, with each space more lovely than the previous!  The staff was excellent, accommodating and knowledgeable in their jobs.  Every aspect from the physical space, the food, every detail was so well and lovingly thought out.

My wife and I got married here last month, we loved the experience that the hotel provided so much that we would do it all again and change nothing.

Great to deal with, great food selections and it was a struggle to select the menu as it was that tasty, cooked all guest's steaks to option and it was faultless. 

Guests loved the setting, rooms and food.

Staff made the whole journey for us very easy. Big thank you to Clodagh, Ruta and Richard plus all the other staff.

Can't recommend highly enough, looking forward to visiting again.

I happened  on Step House in Borris by accident and boy am I happy I did.   Every experience from start to finish was sooooo welcoming.  I arrived late in the evening. Check in was seamless- really friendly and helpful staff. I did not have a booking but stayed in room 103. It was so warm and comfortable after a long working day. 
But the best was yet to come. I ate in the bar. I had the Wild Irish Hake. It was fabulous.  Each individual flavour was delicious, the hake. the scallop tortellini, the ginger butter etc. etc.  Truly a celebration on a plate. 
Later Cait, the owner told me that her son (the chef) had won chef of the year in Co Carlow, last week. I can totally understand why.
I would have no hesitation what so ever in recommending this boutique hotel and restaurant . 
All I have to do now is figure when I can book my next trip with family. Next time, I won’t be a ’table for 1’  😊

Fantastic.  It's not my  first time to visit and just when you think it can't get any better than before. The hardens outside are small but beautiful.  We stayed in a deluxe room which was massive with  seating area inside and outside on the balcony.  The staff were very good and serve was impeccable.  We dined in the restaurant and  the staff  put in a nice window seat in a quiet corner which was very  private.  The food was  amazing and I  still think its one of the best restaurants in the country.  The staff were  attentive with out being intrusive.  Well done step house keep up the good work 👏 

Just back from a 1 night stay in this amazing hotel.
As soon as we walked through the entrance we knew we were going to enjoy our visit.
Staff so friendly and welcoming!
Bar food was soooo good, the chef is exceptional…the nicest bar food I’ve ever experienced..!!
Evening meal was delicious and Ruth deserves a special mention, very attentive and caring individual who made my wife’s birthday the best ever.
Even our breakfast was amazing so thank you so much for a memorable stay…defo be staying in the not to distant future..

My friend  brought me  to the Step House hotel as a birthday present. 
It was terrific from the moment  we checked in at reception. Extremely friendly staff, very personable. 
Lovely rooms with comfy beds .
Food was terrific, lovely gardens.
 We really enjoyed our stay  ,I will be back.
Borris Castle just right  across the road which was fabulous,  lovely grounds.Plenty to admire in Borris, the viaduct is impressive.
