This is a perfect little place to base yourself in Yogya.  It's a 5-minute walk from the train and bus stations.  I was offered a pickup from the airport as well.

It's also a 2-minute walk from the main street, Malioboro, so you have all the food and shopping you need just around the corner.  Some historical spots are at the end of that street.

The hotel is a cute little place run by a family.  They'll rent you a scooter and do you laundry should you need it.  Simple breakfast as well.

It's located in a small alley so even though my room had a balcony there was no view (which I don't care about).  The WiFi in my room was strong.

Drawbacks: due to it being in a local house there was no hot water (that's life in the tropics).  It's close to a mosque so prepare to hear the Call to Prayer at 4:30am.  Sometimes the kids downstairs were a bit loud, but it wasn't a big deal.

I'll stay here again.

Nice, cozy little place to explore Yogya from.

Located quite snugly just around the corner from Malioboro Street, this homestay/hostel is perfect for those who value convenience at an awesome rate. The owners were really great as well, I left my bags under their care while I went out for a short tour before check-in time, and by the time I came back they had moved my them into my room and they were genuinely very helpful. 

Would definitely stay there again the next time I'm in Yogyakarta!

Great Location

Nice people running the place, and Fadel took us with his car to Borobudur and Prambanan Temples for a competitive price.
Very good location and in the same street as the Bedhot Resto.
The price is correct for what it's the country, it also has a rooftop terrace.
We stayed one night and they keep our luggage until our train departure

For one night in Malioboro

We arrived early to the property around 7am the owner asked us to pay rp100k to check in early or we check-in at 2pm so we decided to rent a bike and go out for a tour then we asked the price he wanted to give it in 80k while out its 60k, when we tried to bargain he said if you take the bike here you have parking while if you bring from out then you park out. We left and we’ve rented a bike out (60k). The place not really clean and not as it shown on pics. The room is very small and the toilet too. The next day when we asked for breakfast 3 Times within 2 hours time finally it came cold sandwich and noodles without eggs and when we complained about the slow service and asked for the eggs the owner start yelling at us that we didn’t rent a bike from him and we are complaining here the only people and he said his son went to the collage that’s why the breakfast was delayed. The service is very bad specially when he start yelling at his customers because we didn’t take his bike. Not recommended at all and they are racist talking in bahasa to my friend because he’s Indonesian while if he’s white maybe they could’ve accepted the complaints. 

Bad attitude and service 

I'm not really into the room which is ok here, but the thing which have made me upset is the service from the owner, he doesn't really have the hospitality scent to his customers that staying at his place. the first day we checked in we asked about the bike as he rental it, and the price is not match with us while others gave cheaper deals, once we said we will look for another rent he started being upset and the way he serviced us was totally switched differently. Then the next day in the morning, we ordered breakfast at 8 am because we had to meet my friend by 9 am but they didn't do my breakfast as we ordered since 1 hour ago but they kept making the breakfast orders from others which just ordered after us. Once our breakfast came after one hour because we kept waiting and asking for mine, the noodle came without sunny side up egg while it supposed to be with the egg as the other customers been given of this noodle food. Then we asked why there's no egg in my noodle then the man owner said "because you said you're in hurry so you might not wait for the egg" of course I want to get my food as what others get as well. And he said "you keep complaining since yesterday about the motorcycle, now you're complaining about the food and the service and bla bla" well, of course we complained of everything since we were his customer, it's our right to choose another cheaper bike rent then his, we have right to complain about the long service of the food, and we have right to get our food as complete as other customers get.
We suggest for this man owner to have the good attitude and good hospitality first to the customer, before he opens his own losmen.
This is so bad for us to stay there again.

Terrible services

The owner and the staff are great and I would have loved to like it...but our room was terrible. The smell of dump was so intense, the walls were full of dump, the toilet and the room had just a "window" facing a wall (no natural light) and of course you could hear everything from outside. I think that the place need some renovations and then it would be great (perfect location and helpful staff). Of course it's cheap....but maybe it is not for me.
