Fantastic
441 reviewsWe were looking for a relaxing beach holiday away from the crowds, so we ventured west of Bali. It is certainly more peaceful, quiet and traditional than South Bali with limited tourism, but plenty of eco and sustainable beach resorts. We found Kelapa Resort through Luxury Escapes’ packages. The resort is stunning with greenery all around you. Our room faced the ocean, and we listened to the sound of the waves all day and night. The photos do not provide a good enough representation of the room - the rooms are well sized, beautifully decorated, lit by natural sunlight, and our room included a private courtyard, outdoor stone shower, private pool with sun loungers, outdoor dining area, indoor seating area, and a separate indoor desk area. The restaurant’s Indonesian menu is exceptional. The talented Head Chef Huda and the wait staff are beyond friendly and accommodating. The Arak cocktails are delicious. We discovered a Balinese winery: Hatten Wines from their menu, and visited their vineyard up North. The daily activities are delightful and fun. I recommend the cooking class where we visited the resort’s organic onsite farm and watched a local climb a very tall coconut tree to fetch fresh coconuts for us to try. If you feel like leaving the resort and exploring the surrounding areas, you can hire a motorbike from the resort. Please make sure that you check over the motorbike with the reception staff together and make note of any damage to the bike. You want to avoid being accused or having to pay for damage that you may not have caused. We booked a private yoga class, and it was great. The trained instructor was probably one of the most attentive and helpful yoga instructors that I have experienced. The spa was wonderful - we went twice! They tailor the massage to your detailed preferences, and I discovered their delightful frangipani oil. You can buy bottles of their virgin coconut oil and frangipani oil. We will certainly return to West Bali, and we recommend Kelapa Resort to anyone looking for a peaceful vacation.
