My recent stay at the Grange Hotel was disappointing, to say the least, and I feel compelled to share my experience. Here's a breakdown of the issues I encountered:

Staff and Service: I was met with lackluster service upon arrival. The room I booked lacked proper ventilation, and when I inquired about it, a staff member dismissively told me I would "get used to it" after 30 minutes. Additionally, when I asked if the windows could be opened to alleviate the issue, I was assured that someone would return with a ladder to assist me, but no one ever did.

Room Quality: The hotel advertises certain rooms as "Luxury," yet my room had no ventilation system in place. It's misleading to label a room as such when basic amenities like fresh air are not provided.

Cleanliness: The hygiene standards were below par. The blanket provided for the extra bed was clearly unclean, with a noticeable odor and dust, suggesting it hadn't been laundered. This is not only unpleasant but also raises health concerns.

Night Staff: The demeanor of the night staff was particularly off-putting. They came across as unprofessional and intimidating, which is not the level of hospitality one expects from a hotel.

Dining and Parking: The absence of a dedicated restaurant within the hotel detracts from the exclusivity and convenience one might expect. The nearby Junior Kuppana overwhelms the hotel's parking facilities, further inconveniencing hotel guests.

In conclusion, the Grange Hotel has the potential to be a fantastic destination, but it is currently let down by poor management and substandard service. It's disheartening to see such a promising property fail to deliver on its promise due to these issues.

Disappointing Stay

1. Good location just walking distance from all the major restaurants.
2. Old British heritage feel rooms although a bit small, with wooden floors and furniture. Bathroom was newly renovated and well equipped. 
3. Bed / linen was soft and comfortable. 
4. Room rate included breakfast starts 8.30amd the spread is only South Indian dishes with tea / coffee, suggestion to include bread / toast and fruits / juices. 
5. Acitivites for kids were board games / badminton.

We had to miss our room rate paid breakfast on the 3rd day since we had to leave early. We asked for only 2 coffees for which we were charged extra which I think is not good hospitality on the part of the hotel / management. 

Apart from it - would recommend it for the heritage living experience. 



Heritage stay experience

What an excellent stay! Kind professional staff, nice heritage antique furniture, set back off the road therefore quieter. Lovely inner cloister and a truly excellent south Indian breakfast. Comfortable beds were sparkling clean, though one sheet was a bit worn. Central location near restaurants and other hotels. Safe parking in a closed yard. Luxurious blankets made for a great night's sleep. The only worry, it might not be insulated in winter.

Best stay in Ooty

Wanted an hotel in Ooty with British culture  depictions and right in the budget. This place offers an excellent mix of both. As an added advantage the location is excellent and gives proximity to market, local sightseeing etc. Extremely comfortable decors and room features. There is an adjacent eatery which makes it further catchy. Staff members are courteous too and ready to support for anything. They were very responsive in WhatsApp too ensuring that from the time of booking am able to convey all my requirements and sort out my queries. We stayed as a family and it was a complete vacation. 

Highly recommended for the room decor and set ups

The good part of the hotel is its location (though there were lot of road work going on outside - not hotel's fault) which is very close to everything (shops, eateries, botanical garden etc). They have adequate parking spaces within the compound. However, the property including the rooms looked aged and may need upgrade. The same comment for the bathroom and fitting inside. The within compound restaurant had very limited options for dinner. Their breakfast also had limited option but the quality was good (very fresh south Indian dishes like Dosa, Idli, Vada and coffee).

Average Stay in Ooty

A well maintained place with their own garden inside the  hotel. This heritage property  gives a nice historic vibe with its interior. Their service is good and quick. Rooms are clean. It is at a prominent location, markets and some of the locations are at walkable distance.

Beautiful place with a comfortable stay

There is no room service.Staffs are impolite.
The pictures doesn't depict the actual rooms.kids age with 5 years have been charged with charges.
Just Zero Service.
Not at all for kids.
Non Pet friendly.
Absolutely Zero Spread of breakfast apart from South Indian Cuisine.
We received Towel after the first day of stay.
Impolite staffs and horrible experience.
Pest infested rooms(Mosquitoes and house fly)

Horrible Hotel Grange Ooty

We had stayed at The Grange in Dec' 19 and had no qualms booking a room again when we planned to visit Ooty in Dec' 21.

We were in for a shock once we landed and the first question I asked the staff if there was a change in management. 

What had deteriorated from our earlier trip - 

1. Room cleanliness - was poor. The bathroom cleanliness especially was poor. Bedsheets were DIRTY and not sure when were they last washed.
2. During the 3 nights we spent there, drinking water in the room wasn't refilled - I had to ask for water on the 3rd day
3. During out earlier stay, bonfire was arranged on request. This has now been made chargeable @ 1500/- and that too only for 1 family/group at a time. Nowhere have we been 'CHARGED' for a bonfire
4. The restaurant has changed hands to another brand. Breakfast spread was average, compared to earlier when there was an in-house kitchen

I'm still giving 3 star rating for the warm hospitality. The Grange WAS an amazing stay option very close to Commercial road. The management should reconsider the current set-up if they want repeat customers.

Quality gone down by a couple of notches

Very nice place for a  Secured family  stay, Staff are not very polite.  Rooms are clean,  look and feel are  kind of heritage resort.  An  ideal place to stay for perfect weekend.  Easily accessible from  from railway station.

Family visit

 It was a wonderful trip to ooty and stayed at the grange hotel, the rooms were good and clean. The location was good with ample parking.  The staffs were very cooperative, the receptionist helped us with the sightseeing packages. All over the experience was good and the stay is highly recommended.
