I loved this place! It has the best atmosphere. You feel welcome from the moment you step in. The host is really friendly, and will give you advice about what to do in the city. The rooms are spacious and very clean. There is a common area which is beautifully decorated with hammocks and places to hang out. Perfect for a solo traveller.

The best place in Kumily!

Hello everybody, we spent 2 nights here and we were very Well here. Afsal is really kind and helpful, his salt breakfast is delicious and you can trust him . We arrived very late the First day, we were tired and he accompanied me to BOOK the visit to periyard Park… his rooftoop is really peaceful and plaisant … go go go , isa Kirchner

We stayed here for one night in Kumily and had a comfortable stay. The owner was very kind and tried to help us with visa problems we had. They also were able to do our laundry for a good price. There is renovation work going on at the front of the building meaning it is a little dirty around the front and building people around. Our stay was very comfortable however the rooms were very damp. I would not have wanted to stay more than one night because I could almost feel the mould going into my lungs. The homestay provided blankets, a good fan and clean towels. Overall the homestay was good value for money, the only downside being that the room was damp - needs to be scrubbed down and bleached and ventilated.

Kind service and clean location

This was the worst experience in India I had so far. 
1) We asked him for some activities to do in the park, and he said the one we wanted to do was closed and would have been closed for days, so we did one the was more expensive, and after that he told us the experience we wanted was available 
2) he made us cancel the reservation on booking so that he don't have to pay commissions and then he tried to made us paid double the price on booking
3) he insisted like crazy on us to do the activities 
4) there are some works going on ihohoe homestay so is impossible to sleep after 6:30 a.m.

Terrible experience

Best hostel I have been to in India: neat and really clean (according to western! standards). The rooms are well appointed and have been newly repainted/refurbished - an absolute rarity in India-, the whole house being covered with plants which makes you feel natural and comfortable at a time. The manager speaks a decent English, is very friendly and can help you arrange your trips to Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. 

Besides, we saved some money while renting the room directly at the hostel (instead of online).

I can recommend this hostel a 100%.
If it stays like this, the homestay will have a lot of happy and satisfied guests from all over the world.

Clean and green, best choice, sourrounded by "jungle"

Wonderful peace ful place with very nice manager, rooms are clean and beds are good, deffently recommend this place if you go to kumily, this is also a good place to meet other travellers from other coutries

Wonderful place

My husband and I stayed here for two nights. The room was clean and neat. The rooftop garden with hammocks is lovely! Nazeer, the host, was very welcoming and helpful. He helped us to sort out our activities in Periyar.
