This was a great place to stay, loved having the bar feature where you could get a drink or two and finger foods without having to drive to Vik. Loved the area as well, views to the Black sand beaches was awesome. The only downside was the kitchen area was very busy in the mornings and evenings and only one coffee pot. People tended to hog the coffee pot but overall the experience of the Barn are fantastic.

This place was my favourite of all the places we stayed at while in Iceland. Clean, comfortable, private and the staff were amazing. Only downfall was the water took forever to get warm and didn’t last long, but the staff gave us a complimentary breakfast for the inconvenience and if you’ve been to Iceland you know that’s HUGE.  Food is so expensive everywhere.

This is a very upscale hostel. You have opportunities to have private accommodation to sleeping in dorm setting. They have comunal kitchen and showers and the place is beautiful. Most luxurious hostel I’ve stayed in. They have a really good breakfast for  a fee

Excellent luxurious hostel

The Barn is a beautiful place to stay while visiting Iceland, more specifically, the area of Vik. We went as  a couple and stayed in the individual room with private bathroom. Everything was immaculately clean and the grounds were stunning! The staff was very welcoming and kind.
There is a shared kitchen in the main lobby if you would like to bring breakfast or make coffee. Can not recommend The Barn enough!

Excellent stay while in Iceland!

Very clean hostel with all amenities available. Great stay

This is the first time I've stayed at a Hostel where we were in a common room sleeping with strangers.  We went with this option because to book a private room would have cost double and I thought it would be a good experience for our kid.  Although it was a good experience, it wasn't restful.  I was constantly on edge that we were making too much noise.  My partner snores (not loud, but loud enough) if they sleep on their back.  I was constantly waking and repositioning them.  My son isn't very cognizant of how much noise he makes, so I had to be on the alert for him as well.  My son quite enjoyed having his own bunk with a power outlet and good internet; this was one of his favorite places of the whole trip and it was the only hostel.  With the curtains drawn, the bunks were private enough. 

  The kitchen was quite busy with different individuals cooking.  The TV was occupied with soccer and quite a few people watching.  It was a "cultural experience" we aren't typically exposed to when traveling.

The biggest drawback was the cost.  The Vik area was by far the most expensive area for accommodations on our our ring road trip.  If I had it to do again, I wouldn't stay in the Vik area.  I suspect that if we had driven a couple hours down the road (which we had time to do), we would have found better accomodations.

OK, but expensive; Our first Hostel!

Very Nice, but too expensive for a Hostel with shared bathroom.

Beautiful, spacious, modern, and clean place surrounded by natural beauty. We spent two blissful nights at the place. Easy driving access to the town and the beach

Very specious private room, seems new remolded Bed is also comfortable. Just 10min drive to Vik.

Feedback. Bathrooms did not have any place to place toiletries. A shelf needs to be added.
