Love the history of the building & in general the hostel is a very good one, even having a sauna in the basement, which I didn’t have time to make use of unfortunately. One major negative was the lighting in the shower area, I was up early & the only one in the showers. In the middle of my shower, the lights went off. Potentially very dangerous as I had to grapple around in the dark, put a towel on & exit the shower to switch the basement lights back on. So, the basement lights are on a timer. Bare that in mind if you are down there alone.

Halfadan HI Hostel

Our family of 4 enjoyed this gorgeous building & our room! Everything is within walking distance, too, which was perfect! There was a jumping area next door & the rainbow walk was so close. The church is only open at certain times, but we got to dance all the way to the church. :) Smyrilline is also around the corner, so we didn’t have to worry about traffic or missing our way back to Germany, with our own 4x4. The host was also wonderful & early check-in is possible. If you are a DJH member, you receive a 10 percent discount, at Hostelling International, or at GetYourGuide tours, directly through Hostelling International. This was a perfect stay, for our last night, in Iceland, with family.

Lovely Stay & Close to the Smyrilline Ferry

We enjoyed staying at this hostel. We had room 11 it was small but comfortable for 2 people. At 63 Euros we felt it was a good value. Some people complained of noise in other reviews, but we always play white noise at night on our phone even at home so we slept sound. The kitchen was large and well equipped. There were 2 shared bathrooms rooms with toilets, on the main floor and several shower stalls, toilet, and washer/dryer sauna in the basement level. We loved the fact that they had a washer and dryer for a small fee. We enjoyed our stay here, and would definitely recommend it to any couple traveling in Iceland!

Affordable nice stay!

We stay one night in this old hospital converted into a hostel at a cost of 242.05 euros for two rooms on the ground floor with a bathroom. The very inviting price requires rules to be followed. You enter without shoes, once the living room is finished the sheets and towels must be removed and put in the appropriate containers. That said, the hostel is comfortable and has a super furnished kitchen with tables for breakfast or dining and an underground area where we find the sauna with locker rooms. The normal size bedroom has a slightly soft mattress, curtains not too dark and no type of soundproofing, especially with regard to water pipes.

A Good Compromise

A sealed structure, slightly out of the city centre. Functional rooms, not large. Towels and sheets available. Kitchen complete with everything necessary. Very nice dining room with beautiful glass overlooking the sea. Bathrooms and shared showers clean. Possibility of using washing machine and dryer at low cost.

Hostel on the fjord

Great location with amazing view. The common area was super cute. The host take care of little details and created a very cozy environment. The rooms could use some upgrade as well as the shower area but it was all clean and perfect for a few nights stay.

Cozy place to stay

Very lovingly designed and run hostel in the former hospital of Seydisfjödur. Very good and modern equipped kitchen, nice dining room. toilets (shower and sauna) are also beautifully designed clean.

Very nice, but some how expensive...

Very nice room, beautiful common areas, free sauna and the historical background of the place makes the stay an excellent experience. The only minus is that the showers and toilets are common and there is no brakfast in the price. But the toilets and the showers are very nice and clean and there is also nice and big common kitchen and dining room. 
There is also a big plus for polish turists - the staf is polish :)

Very nice place to stay in beautiful area.

The rooms are, as usual in a hostel, rather simple, but fully equipped, the bed is comfortable, the common sanitary area is very clean, as are the rooms and the rest of the house. The highlights are the very well-equipped kitchen and the common living room, from which the view over the fjord to the town centre can be reached in about 10 minutes on foot along the road.

Very nice accommodation on the outskirts of town

We loved the location. I absolutely love this hostel and adore its simplicity. Well equipped kitchen, every detail taught. Over looking the water with a beautiful eating area. Simple beds but very comfortable and clean! I love the easy check in. Our names was on the list with the room number.  I wish we could stay over more days. Thank you for creating wonderful memories. Highly recommended!
