They took care of me feeding me from earth and sea good wholesome traditional Corfiot pleasures for the soul I was cradled breathed clean hot air Healed with time spent dipping in the salty cool waters of Boukari bay Two beaches one heaven I walked barefooted on soft bougainvillea petals on sand and pebbles feeling the dust underfoot Nobody to ask me for anything Instead, I was treated like a queen The family became my family The brothers, my brothers Their father, mine too even if we could not speak each other’s language There was understanding and heart and healing I have returned home a little bit Greek and very much healed missing everything I left behind and dreaming daily of that idyllic Ionian summer with its beautiful Golden sunsets. @tropicgirlkay
