Me and my partner visited Nefeli for 2 weeks all
Inclusive in June this year. I’m not usually one to write reviews but our experience was a bit bizarre and we agreed we would write one! 

So to start with we arrived at nearly 1am. We were checked in by the night porter and he walked us to our room. During the short walk to our room he made it very clear that he wanted us to go straight to bed. We were in one of the apartment buildings, not the main hotel. We were ushered in to our room and the door shut behind us. It’s no exaggeration to say it was like a prison cell. Tiles floor and walls, minimal
Furniture (1 dressing table, 2 bedside tables and a small table next to the fridge). We had expected a double bed but got 2 singles. Whilst we know this is not uncommon in some countries the problem was that the beds were in 2 old and mismatched wooden bed frames that meant that even when pushed together, the mattresses were still about 10 inches apart. 

At this point, we decided to pop back up to the hotel to see if we could buy a couple of bottles of water. We met 2 couples at the pool bar, who it turns out have been staying at nefeli for years. I stayed chatting to them whilst my partner went inside to find the night man. My partner came back out and said he’s been told the bar was shut (not an issue as it was late, but we only wanted water and the couples we met were clearly still being served drinks) anyway we were eventually obliged with 2 bottles of water so off we went to bed. As we laid down to sleep, the bathroom started making a loud gurgling noise. This went on for some time.

Next morning, my optimism quickly fading, we went to breakfast. It consisted of a basic, poor quality fry up, plus the usual continental bits. Not very good but we’re not really breakfast people so not a big issue for us personally. That morning we had also discovered that every time we showered in our room, the whole bathroom flooded.......this was then followed by a number of frog invasions. The shower also did not hook to the wall meaning we had to hold the shower up for each other. After speaking to some other guests we were told that the main hotel building rooms were far better so my partner went and complained about our room and asked to be moved. He was told no the hotel is full but I counted no more than 5 groups of guests on our first day. In fairness to them they did come and fix the shower hook that day. 

The pool was lovely, nice and deep and looked clean the whole time we were there. There was ample amounts of sun loungers and they had the mattresses on them so they were comfy. Could have been more parasols but I usually got one eventually. 

Lunch was an improvement. Nice fresh salad, homemade coleslaw, and usually a selection of meat and fish in various forms. Me and my partner are not fussy eaters in the slightest so we can only speak for our experience but we both found the lunch and dinners to be perfectly acceptable and sometimes excellent (Greek night every Friday, the mum of the managers took great pride in hand making the food and it was delicious). 

Drinks......all inclusive means 1 local lager, vodka, gin, white rum, mataxa and ouzo, red and white wine and soft drinks. That’s it. The lager ran out at least twice during our 2 weeks stay, causing the lads behind the bar to get a lot of complaints and moans.

So that’s the room, food and pool covered. On to the staff. On the whole, they are an amazing bunch of people who work so hard in what clearly are quite testing conditions. We heard numerous people complaining, some not as politely as others. The last manager (Evi?) wasn’t particularly approachable or helpful, however she seemed to let her hair down on Greek night on the Friday and was up on the bar dancing and giving our free Ouzo to everyone! The house keeping staff were excellent as were the catering staff. We have give a special mention to the two barmen George and Marios. It’s not far from true to say these two really made our stay so much better. Always willing to stop for a chat or a quick card trick (they always were amazed at my partners tricks haha!) they remembered what we drank and were always happy to try and make us up something special if we couldn’t decide what to have. Really really nice guys who do an excellent job with limited resources. They told us how frustrating it is for them to work in such a limited poorly stocked bar. 

Nefeli’s location is really good. Minutes from the beach, and from a nice little town with lots of bars and restaurants (Delon pub in particular which I will review separately). And you can walk to Kos town in about 30 minutes or 10€ in a cab. Or as we did you can bar crawl your way all the way along the beach in to kos town, if that’s you’re sort if thing I highly recommend, it was one of the best days of our holiday! 

In conclusion, would I go back to nefeli? No. Would I recommend it? No. But we did make the most of our situation and we did enjoy our 2 weeks (we did slot of day trips) ..........

Not quite sure how to start....

The nefeli was a great place to stay when under Nico's control, standards slipped and went down hill rapidly when under Tony & Evi's control.
Would only return if Nico's, Maria & Katarena were in charge.

Supposed to be a 4* hotel !!! now way is this a 4* hotel more like a 2* by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in in my life.....The food was terrible and not enough choice we were all inclusive and spent our time out eating... We arrived in June and were told we had to go and stay at another hotel for the night as the hotel was full not really a good start to the holiday. People were complaining about all sorts of things including frogs in one couples room. my advise is don't stay here... management  totally unprofessional

holiday hell

We arrived at 1am with our son,daughter in law and 2 young grandchildren, there was no travel cot in the room for our 8mth old grandson so he had to be in the bed with my son on the first night, it took 3 days to get a kettle in their room to make the baby milk. The food was absolutely terrible and stone cold,there was never any fresh fruit or even juice for the children. On our first day I thought the pool had a green tinge to it and after 3/4 days it was awful, I'd never seen either of the pools cleaned at this point or even the ph levels being tested,then my son saw a snake in the adult pool and told the staff, their reply was no photo no evidence, there were people arriving at the hotel with their reps who took 1 look at the food and pool and got them back on their coaches and moved to another hotel. This should of been a fantastic family holiday but it was the worst holiday iv ever had, please please do not book into this hotel.

Not a 4 start resort as advertised, a 2 at very best!!!!
I try to be as honest & open minded as possible, my wife and I have years of experienced travelling ranging from backpacking to high end 5 star resorts/private villas (my wife worked for Virgin Airlines so very experienced in travel). This was a week away as a couple but we have visited Greece many times with our kids too (usually stay in 3-5 star hotels. We had already been to a 5 Star Hotel in Crete earlier this summer (which was fantastic - not an awful lot more money that this one, but as it was advertised as a 4 star we thought we would get something close....thats when the nightmare began!! THIS IS NOWHERE NEAR 4 STAR - 2 STAR IF YOUR LUCKY!!! Like others have experienced (since reading reviews on our return), we arrived and fobbed off to go and stay in the "sister" hotel (The Laura Hotel) which was even worse!! We had always planned to hire a scooter as we get to see so much more of the islands we stay at this way. We refused to sleep in either of these hell holes and ended up travelling all over Kos trying to get an alternative hotel (in one of the busiest weeks of August/September. Eventually we found one that could take us in for B&B at an additional cost of £850.00 for the 7 days. What was considered a budget holiday had skyrocketed to more than what we paid for the recent 5 star in Crete!!!
To start with the pool area was not cleaned AT ALL during the 7 days as it was a "pond like" green colour when we arrived and when we got picked up for our transfer back home - very unattractive and very unhygienic!!! The double glazed windows hadnt been cleaned for weeks or months. There were no towels around the pool and the staff took forever to get ones when asked - a real effort for them by all accounts!!
The rooms: Although we didnt stay here, the bedrooms were extremely old and dated - the beds creeky and the mattresses were also really really hard!

The food: The food was very, very basic with very little options, if you are a vegetarian the only options were salad and chips!

When we complained, the staff were unable to do anything as they "were not management and unable to make a decision". Although I felt sorry for them as they clearly had no support, this was our holiday and , as we all know - a week goes with a blink of an eye, it was not my concern how the decisions were made - THEY JUST NEEDED TO BE MADE THERE AND THEN!!  The poor girl was just trying to get sympathy about her working conditions rather than wanting to resolve the issue - she was totally demoralised and clearly used to the barrage of complaints.I looked over my shoulder in the reception and there were others behind me with 'loaded" and "reloaded' guns of complaints that were about to be fired in her direction and all about the same thing I would expect!!

When we got to speak the manager, she basically fobbed us off with excuses (which is now underlined by the amount of others that experienced the same approach throughout the summer according to the reviews). They were disgraceful and should not be allowed to trade in this way. We booked via On The Beach, which we have found to be very good in the past....would we be so loyal moving forward?? Lets see if they respond in a positive manner and then I can answer that one

This is without doubt the worse hotel I/we have ever stayed in and it is clear that the current management don't care that they have run it into the ground as they kept reminding us that they were giving up the lease at the end of the season and moving onto a different hotel....they couldn't run a bath let alone a hotel. Avoid at all cost people

Disgusting Place Ran by Amateurs - avoid at all costs!!!! Advertised as a 4 Star...not a chance!!

after arriving at 1:30am to kos, wanting a shower and to go straight to bed, we arrive at the hotel. firstly, as you walk in the hotel it instantly smells like cannabis. not a good look! then we arrive and an old man who claims to be ‘new’ says we cannot stay in the hotel for THE WHOLE TWO WEEKS. he says he’ll pay for a taxi to a three star not inclusive hotel, so basically a downgrade. he spent about half an hour trying to make calls which we were not happy about! we booked this holiday around a year ago and they’ve already filled in our spaces! ridiculous. don’t visit here if you don’t want to waste your time!!!!

worst hotel i’ve ever been to already

Just back from a week at nefeli. Was terrified after reading the awful reviews on here, however we had a lovely time there. Hopefully our review will give a more realistic view of the hotel than some of the recent ones. Yes it is very basic there, yes it could be improved in some ways. But it is a very friendly, and very clean hotel. We left a large tip for the room cleaners,as our room was cleaned daily. The white bedlinen was fresh and clean, floors well swept and fresh white towels daily. My partner and I enjoyed every meal, yes there isnt a huge selection but what is there is very tasty. There was always beautiful organic greek honey and greek yoghurt for breakfast. As well as beans, eggs ,toast, bacon etc. The cakes laid out at breakfast were made by the owners mum and not shop bought.  Lunch and dinner was always some lovely salads such as tuna nicoise, homemade coleslaws, fresh tomatoes etc. Next to the salads was fresh meat such as roast pork, pork kebabs, chicken, beautiful bolognese and pasta dishes. Vegetable accompaniment. Throughout the day, cake, and some homeade pasties and pastries were left out at the bar. The chef and kitchen staff worked hard and seemed genuinely interested in ensuring guests had enough food. We were polite and friendly to the staff and in return, we found them to be more than happy to look after us. The owner and staff do seem fed up when people complain about not enough food, but it was clear to see that there really was enough, and it was always refreshed when it ran low. Why make too much just for people to waste it? I like to see fresh food being brought out rather than leaving a large tray of food sit there and go cold. The buffet was refreshed every 5 minutes with more hot food, chips etc. There wasnt ever a dirty dish left laying around. 
The bar staff were lovely, made such a fuss of all guests and got to know your drink of choice. 
Reception staff were chatty, kind, knowledgable and were so pleased that we enjoyed. 
Pool was beautiful. Clean and refreshing. Always sunbeds available with cushions. It was a really peaceful pool area which makes a change from busy, loud, noisy pools. Yes the grass needs cutting and maybe a general tidy up around border of hotel. The hotel is walking distance from kos town centre, or 7euros for a taxi. All in all, we really enjoyed our time there despite the poor reviews. We rarely leave reviews but felt this one was important, as often poor reviews are left by people who perhaps see life as a half empty glass. The owners are leaving at the end of this season but that didnt stop them treating us extremely well. Thanks Nefeli for giving us an authentic Greek welcome.

A positive review from us

I try to be as honest & open minded as possible, I usually stay in 3 star all inclusive hotels in Greece with my children. This year as we did not go with the kids I spent a little extra on this one as it was advertised as a 4 star.
To start with the pool area was not cleaned AT ALL during our entire 7 day stay!
When we arrived the first evening there was a pair on pants on the grass area near to the pool and they stayed there all week.

The rooms: The beds were extremely old and creeky, to the point that in our first room just rolling over at night was load enough to wake my partner! My partners bed fell apart early hours of our first nights stay, the slate fell from underneath, waking us up with a load crash. The mattresses were also really really hard!
After braving it in our first room for 2 nights of very little sleep we demanded another room, as it was ruining our holiday having no sleep.
Our 2nd room have slightly better beds but the air con did not work in this room!

The food: The food was good, but there was very little options, if you are a vegetarian the only options were salad and chips!
The ice cream ran out before we arrived and they did NOT get anymore in while we were there.
Also, very strangely this is the only hotel in Greece I have stayed in that doesn’t do olives! Only once were olives put out with the buffets, very buzzard indeed. 

The drinks: The hotel ran out of beer 3 times in the 7 days that we stayed there! On the 3rd occasion the bar staff were selling customers alcohol free beer when the all inclusive ran out and told them that they were regular beers. Unfortunately for them I can read a little Greek and so I brought this to the attention of one of the managers after the bar staff tried to insist that the beers were not alcohol free. Let’s just say she had to refund a lot of guests that evening!
Also the wine ran out once and instead of giving guess the slight better wine that was not usually included in the all inclusive (the wine the managers and their friends drank) the guests were just left without!

Just got back from a 2 week holiday with 14 family members I can probably speak for everyone to say they enjoyed the stay and all management and staff made everyone very welcome throughout the holiday, The rooms pretty basic but cleaned regularly and pretty much to a standard of any where I've stayed for a similar budget but who goes on holiday to sit in the room anyway, I always found something to eat during Breakfast,lunch and evening meal and particularly enjoyed a number of things available baring in mind this is an all inclusive set up has to cater for various nations so I'm sure you can't please everyone all of time, George and Mario looked after your needs at the bar and kept us from being thirsty,Katerina, Maria and Billy on reception provided excellent service to help with any needs and Eva one of the owners was very hands on and asked for our feedback on a few occasions, Also thanks to cleaning,kitchen and maintenance man you all played your part in keeping the hotel running, So was we satisfied with our stay yes, Was we happy with the food and drink yes,Was the price we paid good value yes, Would we stay again for sure,Thank you Nefeli we had a great holiday rooms 201,204,207,210,211, 212
