We stayed as a couple for one week in August. The room was OK but was lacking desk space (true this is not a business hotel - but still is rated as 4 Star). I asked for a temporary table and nothing was available, so I was forced to work on my computer at one of the lobby guest lounge. Late August is very hot (30+ Degrees centigrade) and my requests to turn on the AIR/COND in the guest lounge drew a blank. What was worse was that the Reception staff responding to my request was not apologetic but .... while he could very easily suggest that the windows and doors be kept closed to maintain the air-conditioned air (if it was turned on). As a result every afternoon I bathed in my sweat for about 4 hours, in order to work on the computer. In the evening, since the windows had to be kept open, I was befriended by numerous mosquitoes. Since we had prepaid the week long package we had no choice, but unless you are here for only for the thermal baths, the public spaces of the hotel are not comfortable and the staff not accommodating. The rooms are renovated, the beds are indeed spacious, but too large for the rooms, and the furnishings leave little space to move about. On the other hand, to be fair, I have to note that the dining room staff were very polite. The package price however was a fair value for the money paid (4 star rating but 3 star price and service).

The ups and downs of a hotel's facilities and services

I stayed with a friend of mine for the first week in August.  The hotel is a classic, built in 1923 and remodeled in 2001.  The whole area of Edipsos is renown for their hot sulfate springs for therapeutic assistance.  Our room was in the back of the hotel, directly over the spring bathes and consistent noise from the bathers, adjacent to our room was a restaurant that constantly fried fish at all hours of the day and night.  Water pressure was good.  There were 2 large double beds that took up the whole room and you had to squeeze through the one bed up against the closet to get to your side of the bed and the balcony.  Balcony was filthy!!  The worse thing of all, with a sign outside of the 2 elevators - the staff shuts down the air conditioning DAILY! from 07:00 to 11:30 and again at 19:00 to 22:30!!!  Unbelievable when the weather was in the high 30's celsius (over 95F).  The beach was just a few yards in front of the hotel but so were the ferry boats that came in and our of the area.  The lunch was served only from 13:30 to 14:30 - only 1 hour!!  It was prepared in a tasty way.  Would not stay there again that's for sure.

My Uncomfortable Experience at Avra Spa Hotel, Edipsos, Greece

We only stayed there for a night in August. The receptionist was welcoming and for a mere 70 euros we got a double room which was really spacious, had two double beds (!), a nice hall and spacious wardrobe, and a big, clean shower. We couldn't have asked for more. Breakfast was OK, nothing special, just all right, although I must admit i would expect it to be a notch better.
All in all, Avra Spa Hotel is a hotel that looks and feels luxurious, with a touch of grandeur that could use some renovation, but gave a feeling of warmth and offered very cosy accommodation.
P.S. There was a busy spa at the premises as well (hence the name) and it seems that it was favoured by both hotel guests and visitors as well.
