Anthos Apartments

We stayed for three nights in June. At first we missed the sign for the apartments, as we came up the hill from the centre of Plakias and there was only a sign on one side of the entrance - it wasn't until we did a circuit and came at them from the top of the hill that we saw the sign. The lady who was doing the cleaning told showed us where our rooms were, but if you arrive and there is no-one around the names of new arrivals and their allocated rooms are taped to the notice board, and keys are left in the door. We were a little disappointed not to have an upstairs room, however after the first day we appreciated the lower room as it was right by the pool and the little garden, and we were able to enjoy evening drinks sitting on the picnic bench, looking out over the bay. The apartment was very spacious, and very clean, with complimentary soap and shampoo. Bins were emptied and floors swept daily. The kitchenette was very well equipped with almost everything you might need to prepare a simple meal, and there was a kettle and fridge and hob and grill. Our room was one of the older ones but it was still bright and lovely - our friends had the room upstairs which had a new modern kitchen etc which looked fantastic. The pool was quiet, only a few sunbeds but no-one seemed to use the pool (except us) while we were there. It was also very clean - they cleaned it every single morning. We found a tavern round the back of the rooms - called something like Flisvos and Phedra (not quite sure of the names now) - a traditional old style taverna, fantastic views, no menu ("come and have a look at what's cooking"). Food delicious. You go down to the Alianthos Beach reception to pay (they can also arrange horse riding which we tried). The breakfast at Alianthos Beach is excellent - buffet style, all you can eat for 5 euro's, and loads of choice. Apart from being a bit of a walk from the village, these apartments are perfect. We will definitely stay again.
