I booked this Hotel via booking.com and then read the Trip advisor reviews after, so as a family we arrived with trepidation, but still up for an adventure.
We got there fairly late and I think it's true to say it's not the most modern of hotels, but one of the owners was there with a cup of coffee in a large flask for us, and there were soft drinks for the little ones.
We are a family of six and booked the room with three bunk beds, which was a novel experience, and cosy for us. We then had a picnic on the floor on blankets.
I took into account the other two tripadivsor reports and it is clear that they have tidied up. The only dust was on top of the doors, and the linen, bed and bathroom were clean.
The only negative point, but perhaps fair enough for a hotel at this price, was the lack of air con, so it was hot in the room this summer.
However, breakfast at a minimal price was lovely, and homemade. And bless the lady owner who cooked scrambled egg with tomato, and a delicious aubergine with yoghurt which was straight out of her kitchen. And she was just delightful, warm-hearted and welcoming.
For sure, Doubletree Hilton this isn't, but friendly, warm-hearted and welcoming but perhaps slightly down at heel it is.We loved it.

They were nice

The owners should be ashamed of themselves. This is the most shocking hotel I've ever come across and the absolute worst I've ever stayed in. I was absolutely robbed and will never use booking.com again. The shower was unusable, the water tepid, filthy room, dusty, voiles instead of curtains, rubbish accumulated outside the main entrance. The shower room had loads of old wall plug holes where things had been attached to the wall in the past. The pillow was super thin, the bed uncomfortable, the windows and window sills filthy to the point where I could scrape filth off them with my nails. The tap in the shower room was loose, there were dead flies around the room, there was dust rising in the room after opening the windows which made me cough a lot. 

There was a bunch of dusty artificial flowers under a side table in the room, I can only guess what these were for! There were Maître Jean Pierre Pain au Chocolates by the side of the bed. These evil Lidl pastries do not compensate for a disgusting hotel room. 

Going down in the morning for breakfast was like entering an abandoned building. No one around, deserted. This is a ghost hotel right out of a horror story and should be avoided at all costs especially if you value your respiratory health. 

Stay away from this place, it really is the hotel from Hell.

It's like squatting in a slum

Budget hotel does not mean filthy room and poor facilities.

The exterior doesn't create a good first impression, rubbish left outside the entrance and the whole area could do with a litter pick and sweep and that's before you attend to the exterior cosmetics.

Friendly welcome and that's as good as it gets!

Room - filthy! Bed linen had been changed and that was about it. Seems like it had been a while since anyone had stayed in my hotel room with the amount of dust accumulated.

Thin curtains, so considering the window was the full length of the room it was very light very early when I needed proper rest for a 500 mile journey home the next day.

Bed - poor and old quality, thin pillow and the worst night sleep I've had.

Bathroom facilities - shocking. No hot water in the morning, no shower head holder so I couldn't shower before my journey home, the sink tap was dis attached from the sink and the whole room just really tatty.

I did try to find a member of staff to sort out my problems and possibly be moved to a room more acceptable but found no one.

Do not stay here, budget does not mean unclean and unsatisfactory conditions when you are paying for a service.
