Very good
23 reviewsWe've been staying at the Hotel Waghäusel Hof every year since 2009 (due to the proximity to the Hockenheim Ring and friends) and have always experienced excellent service. To update some reviews by others, we are pleased to tell you that as of our last stay (October 2014) WiFi IS available IN the rooms and the speeds were very good - you just need to get an access code per person for your stay ... so ask when you check in. - Exceptionally clean - Friendly staff (very accommodating even to those completely unable to speak the language) - Excellent German-style breakfast (cold cuts, buns, cheeses, boiled and scrambled eggs, yogurt, fruit, nuts, juice, tea and VERY good coffee!) - Wonderful Italian/German restaurant on premises - very popular with the locals(check the hours for service - open lunch and dinner during the week and only dinner on weekends) The area - The hotel is located a little "off the beaten path" as they say, but within very close and easy access to the main autobahn system. The area is very quiet - mixed industrial/commercial/residential - for the little village of Waghäusel this seems pretty common. The location is a PLUS for us since it's soooo quiet. There are a few small, basic shops just around the corner on the more "main street" nearer the highway - a general store, clothes, shoes, cafe/bakery and a McDonalds now too. Bathrooms - We've only ever had a room with a shower - I don't believe there are any with bathtubs. The water pressure is amazing! Never any issues! I'm a "bath-person" but I miss those showers when we come home! Beds - We've only ever seen single beds in the rooms, so having to push beds together is a bit of a bummer for us North Americans who are used to monster beds. That said though - they're comfortable (though at first touch you wouldn't think so) and we always get a great night's sleep. The rooms - The rooms aren't huge, but once you settle in and get unpacked there never seems to be any problem. We'd really like to see a small fridge tucked away somewhere - maybe under the TV unit (we never seem to use that space) - it would make it really handy for people staying more than a couple of nights. While the decor is a little dated I have to say I've seen FAR FAR worse in North America!! Bottom line - out-dated German decor is not offensive. ;) Most importantly though - while it may be a little dated, you never feel as though things aren't clean - quite the opposite in fact! Everything is very fresh, clean and well kept. I noticed that one reviewer mentioned that most rooms have laminate floors. We have to note that we've only ever had carpeted floors - we've always been on the 2nd floor. While there are no ice machines (Germans are not obsessed with ice like we North Americans), there are water coolers on each floor.
