We visited the house with friends and was very happy to talk with Irakliy and Nastya daily and nightly, nice breakfasts and good view to the river - we have to come back and see it again!

Possibly The best place to stay in Kutaisi!

I booked this place for the awesome views of the river. The hosts are nice people. However the property is a bit far from the city center. The beds are very small. The bathroom is shared between three rooms. However, when we were staying there were no more guests and my family used it as our private one. The shower curtain was missing and the toilet seat had some mud or god knows what inside that wouldn't flush out. The fittings are good and contemporary. The kitchen is downstairs and has a good supply of pats, pans and dishes. The washing machine was out of order. Overall, i would advice the owners to maintain their place better. The property has great potential but it seems its being neglected.

Beautiful Views

Aloft House is located in a historic and scenic part of Kutaisi, about 20 minutes' walk from the city centre. It lies on a hill side, overlooking the Rioni River. The house is really neat, and "my" room was spacious, comfortable and with a nice view on the river from the terrace. I put "my" in quotes because it was not supposed to be my room. The one that they had assigned to me was downstairs and with no river view, apparently. The way it became "mine" was due to a massive cock-up. My flight landed at Kutaisi at 2:45 in the morning, so I arranged an airport transfer with the hotel owners. Except that when I arrived there was nobody waiting for me. I did ring the hotel a number of times to no avail. So I took a ride on a very suspicious taxi. For the entire journey the driver never stopped pestering me and pushing dodgy tour deals, he got lost trying to find the address, tried to drop me off midway at some other hotel, and then insisted I paid 20 euros for the ride when we agreed on 30 lari (by the way, the honest fare is 20-25 lari top - do not pay more!). I gave him 40 lari but he left cursing and without giving back any change. Now I was in front of a gate with no bell. I phoned the hotel number again (14 times in total - I'm not kidding), but there was no answer. So I sat there outside until it started getting light, and finally I could see a way to open the gate. I got in and tried the front door, which was open. I looked upstairs and downstairs but there was nobody around. Finally, exhausted, I found an unoccupied room and crashed in it. It was past 6am! I still had to pay for the night, by the way... It later turned out that they 'forgot' about picking me up, and that they had received my phone calls but decided not to answer. It's going to be years before Georgia develops an infrastructure and a culture for tourism, and one has to be patient. These things happen all the times, and when they do, your host would offer you some food and drinks thinking that it will make everything all right. I normally am OK with that, but it was not so pleasant, after a 5 hours' flight, with a vocabulary of 10 Georgian words and no Russian, to find myself in that situation in the middle of the night. And the next day I struggled to get through my busy schedule because I was so tired! So, yes, by all means, book this accommodation: it's really nice. But perhaps have a plan B ready.

Nice settings, terrible service

This place has great reviews on Booking.com, but please don't believe them!  Either it's a total scam or it has recently changed ownership. My GF and I had let them know that we would arrive quite late, but we're very rudely received and given a room with no curtains and terrible beds. You could feel the springs through the mattress and the coverings were terribly thin despite the chilly weather. Also, a very rank smell came up from the bathroom. We left after one night and they tried to charge us more than the agreed price. There were no other guests and the place is not in a nice neighborhood and far from any shops or restaurants. Stay away!

Terrible place, probably a scam

Me & my family members visited this property on 13th July as I had booked it from booking.com. The property owner charged me 70 GEL for no reason. He wrongly listed it as a hotel on booking.com. Actually when I reached the property I found the property a hostel cum bar which made me feel insecure. The owners mouth was smelling of alcohol as he was drunk which was not a welcoming sign. There were 6 friends of his outside who were also drunk and misbehaved with my wife saying "Hello, How are you?". Hence I requested him to cancel it. He demanded us to pay 70 GEL. I would never recommend anybody especially family members to stay at this property in the future. The owner is a drunk guy and a cheater not to be trusted by all means cause when booking.com management called him today he lied saying that he hadn't charged us anything. I lost my money but don't want other travellers or guests to suffer for renting this property in the future.
