This was our second stay at this property and this time we shared some days with friends we encouraged to join us. They were thoroughly enthralled as we were. 
Benoit and Mihi, our hosts are so welcoming that you really feel that you’re staying with friends. 
Lodging is comfortable with rooms in the converted stables alongside the castle where only our hosts stay. There is only accommodation for 20 including a family  little gite so you really feel special.
The grounds and garden are vast for beautiful walks including a nice sized swimming pool. The castle’s lounge is what you would imagine : elegant and cozy. Unfortunately it’s closed at 10PM as it would be nice to spend some time there after dinner out.
Breakfast is served outdoors by the castle walls in the garden or in a lovely room if necessary. A lovely choice of cheeses, fruits, homemade jams, croissants, etc are available but no eggs unfortunately.
There is a nice choice of restaurants within a few kilometers .
The hosts have good suggestions as well as for daily tours especially in the Beaujolais region.
All in all , it’s a very special place that you would want to return to. Careful...... only opened 6 months a year.

A special place to return to

My family and I stopped here for one night on the way back from the south of France. The chateau itself is stunning with beautiful grounds. The rooms are modern clean and beautifully furnished. We had a memorable breakfast in the shadow of the chateau. All in all a great experience that was amazing value.

Beautiful Place

This is our fifth year of coming to Chateau de Tanay. It is absolutely our favourite place to come on holiday so much so that this year we did 8 hours of travelling to Italy, where we were spending the rest of our holiday, just so we could go to the Chateau too. Mihi and Benoit are the kindest, most wonderful hosts. They welcome us every year as friends, and are so kind to the children, The chateau is stunning, and the room was so cool even in the heatwave, that we did not even need to use the air conditioning. The breakfasts are delicious and served outside in the beautiful garden. The chateau has a lovely pool and beautiful grounds for strolling, Many guests seem to stay just a few nights and we often hear them regretting that they are not staying longer. There is so much to do around the chateau, and Mihi and Benoit have great suggestions. We were all so sad to leave and wherever else we go, the children always say this is their favourite place. We are almost reluctant to give away the Chateau de Tanay secret but yet cannot recommend it enough and we will of course be back next year!

We keep coming back!

Having never visited rural France before, we flew to Lyon before heading south to Provence. This was a wonderful way to start our holiday. We stayed in a lovely suite situated in the Château. Beautifully restored and elegantly decorated, the whole place is a lovely place to relax and explore the surrounding area. Breakfast was delicious, served by the lovely Mihi and Benoit, who couldn’t be more helpful. My husband was out of sorts for a couple of days so we prepared dinner in our kitchen and ate in the stunning grounds. To be thoroughly recommended! 

Fabulous!

Simply fantastic.   A beautifully  and tastefully renovated chateau in a peaceful location with wonderful gardens and glorious swimming pool.   From my initial email communication, our hostess, Mihi, was extremely helpful.   Our room was a beautiful and romantic suite in the turret – very  comfortable and well equipped with kitchenette and amazing bathroom.   Lots of welcoming little touches including a bottle of wine.   Breakfast had lots of choice including fresh fruit and was one of the best on our trip.   It was a great shame that we only had one night here.   If in the area again we would definitely stay  again and will certainly recommend to friends and family.

Stunning

This is a gem of a place.  Renovated with the greatest taste and beat materials.  Thoughtful, modern feel that is blended seamlessly with the medieval castle.  Great pool, great breakfast, and fabulous live-on-grounds owners.  Highly recommend!!

Great castle experience in lower Burgundy

This is a wonderful place to stop off en route to Italy. The old house and grounds are lovely, full of charm and so peaceful. But the highlight is the quality of the room. Everything is first class from the sheets to the walk-in shower. Mihi is very welcoming and Benoit too. Highly recommended.

Chateau de Tanay is, quite simply, beautiful. Set amongst one of the best wine regions of France, it offers a wonderful base from which to explore. We stayed for a week and loved coming back to the Chateau each evening after a day of exploration to relax in the beautiful gardens with a glass of wine. The swimming pool was also a lovely retreat from the heat and generally we had it completely to ourselves. 
The owners, Mi-hi and Benoit, are super friendly and full of knowledge and recommendations for the local area. We stayed in the Turret room which is so pretty and perfectly equipped for a relaxing stay. We honestly couldn’t recommend this more highly, whether as as a place to stay for a night, or longer. Thank you Mi-hi and Benoit for such a wonderful holiday. We will be back!
