The Manor

This is a strange review because we never actually made it to stay! We booked two rooms in summer 2019 only for a health issue to require us to cancel. The owner, the understanding Bleigh, offered a refund or postpone to 2020. The place looks so fab we choose the latter but you can guess what happened then- covid struck! But the holiday remained possible due to france being on the green list of countries to visit so we thought we were good - only for easyjet to switch our flight to Figari airport in the south (some 5 hours away). Furthermore there were zero hire cars available because the firms had effectively shut up shop for the summer because of covid. But then came Bleigh to the rescue!! She rang all the local hire firms directly for us and used her language skills and charm to get us the last free car on the island. Home and dry ? Not quite ...the hire firm then said the car was only available from day 2 of our holiday! So the super-fixer Bleigh arranged for her gardener to drive the 10 hour round trip to pick us up!! Home and dry then?.. of course not! Two days before we were due to fly the travel restrictions returned and we couldn’t go anyway! Needless to say Bleigh helped us get our car hire refunded and bumped us on to 2021. And here we are in 2021, things were less than certain with France on the amber list. Furthermore ours kids, who would have been 13 in 2019 are now 15 going on 21, meaning that a quiet holiday in a beautiful location is not such a good fit for their energetic and independent needs. So at this point, after all the work, the saintly Bleigh offers us a refund!!! Having lost loads on flights I am well aware that getting refunds in such circumstances is discretionary which is why Bleigh’s kindness on top of her helpfulness was truly touching. The fact remains that the Manor looks like a heavenly retreat, and I look forward to going there with my wife when the chicks have flown the nest and we are holidaying as a couple... and when I do I look forward to another five star review, which will be a rating for the place itself (as opposed to this review which is in fact a 5 stars review for Saint Bleigh!!) Thank you Bleigh and looking forward to meeting you in person someday!
