We arrived 4th of August at 11 am to a cottage, already paid for way in advance of course, that we just briefly had a look at and then we unloaded our luggage from the car as we were headed straight to Annecy for the festival and fireworks the same day. We came back around 2 pm, and had time to look at the cottage for the first time (Jesus!)... It was dirty, full of ants in the kitchen, with a horrible mattress, and no privacy (only "decorative" curtains in the kitchen, allowing neighbours and anyone else free view to the entire cottage basically). And on top of that, our bathroom had no shower (which the woman who showed us to the cottage upon our arrival seemed surprised about, too!), so we had to use the shared bathroom which was, uhm, an experience!

The next morning, 5th of August, we went to the reception to let them know that we'd paid for a service that we hadn't gotten... We told them about the issues, asked them for another cottage or a reimbursement, and Greg, very reluctantly came down to have a look at it, and in the end they somewhat offered to go and clean the cottage (although Sylvia had checked the cleaning herself, and it was fine, she said) and find another and better mattress. Because we most suddenly couldn’t get our money refunded, that was just not an option, because then their camp site couldn’t exist! Therefore, although we didn’t want to, we accepted it (after a longer discussion), and suddenly they no longer had time to do any of it! They were too busy, had too many other guests to take care of, but as we kept informing them that we had paid them for a service that we were no way near receiving we wanted it to be fixed if we were to stay there or they had to pay us back our money (minus the one night we stayed there). Things got too much for Greg and he started shouting at us, telling us to leave and exit, kicking us out of the reception and locking it behind us!

As you can imagine, we didn’t end up staying here, we LEFT, as we were told to, and luckily we found Camping le Petit Nice, a super cozy camp site less than 1 km from Camping Le Bois Joli! We have been emailing with Sylvia, who still doesn’t want to refund us any money, although we've tried, even just some of the money!

Yes, we are aware that this camp site is “only” a 2/3 star site, but we still expect to have a clean place to live at, not to share our cottage with 100’s of ants, having a somewhat proper mattress and not hostile hosts that can’t and won’t help with issues accruing, because they’re simply too busy to handle anything and have happy and satisfied customers.
What a way to do business!
