We stayed at the maison Thais and had the pleasure of enjoying an amazing town and festival. When we arrived in Arles there had been a nix up with our deposit and booking.As we had been in France for a week already the owner Mr Alban Harley had been unable to contact us.He had made an alternate arrangement and everything worked out perfectly.The House we stayed at was a block from his own and was perfect for us.We had the entire place to ourselves and loved it.Arles is an old Roman city full of Roman ruins and a apitheatre that is still in use today.The towns people were friendly and helpful at every opportunity .The Van Gogh sites were an added bonus to the historical sites. I cannot say enough about the efforts of mr Harley to make things workout despite the glitch with our booking.The town is a must see if your in the area.We stayed in the old town and were able to walk to everything.Lovely cafes and always a boulangerie close by.

A weekend in Arles

In the grand old city of Arles, close to the mighty River Rhone, we arrived at this quaint little guest house, by bicycle.  Have no fear, a very friendly welcome awaits you!  We enjoyed an aperitif on the roof-top terrace, before being well directed to an excellent restaurant nearby.  Accommodation was perfectly clean and quiet, followed by a hearty breakfast. La Maison de Thais allows you to soak up the atmosphere of this lovely ancient city.

Full of character.

Selected La Maision de Thais based on TripAdvisor reviews. Location is great; in the working class area of Arles and a good home base for day trip in and around southern Provence. We could walk pretty much anywhere in Arles from there. Price point was excellent; far below other options in central Arles. Host is gracious and helpful. Gave us tips on where to park, restaurants, market day. Breakfast provided for 6 euro each in a basket that can be brought to the room or the rooftop terrace. Room is simple, clean. Bathroom, shared with another room, had a touch of sewer smell and a backed up drain in the shower. Cleanliness on the rooftop terrace could be improved: dirty dishes, counters, towels here and there for the duration of our stay. For those looking for more like a hostel environment, this is the place for you. Photos are a little misleading; imply a cleaner, tidier abode.

Great price? Yes! Charming? Not quite.

La Maison de Thais (named in honor of the host's  bubbly 9 yr. old daughter),  is a charming and accommodating B&B in "Old Arles", a working class district of the city that contains most of the classical  history of this former Roman settlement.
 We made Arles our home base for our week-long visit to Provence, and La Maison de Thais was the perfect choice for our stay.  It is equidistant from Avignon, Aix-en -Provence, and (almost) Marseilles.
It is a great town to walk around in, with excellent food at various price-levels.
The B&B is very homey, with a small roof-top terrace, but the host, Alban, is the friendliest, and most natural, host we've ever run into. He is full of thoughtful( and accurate) information about what you might enjoy, likes to chat , in French or English, and prepares excellent breakfasts with his own, home-made, jams. 
It is as close to staying with a good friend as we've found, and you can enjoy a glass of the regional drink, Pastis,( anisette, like the Greek "ouzo") on the terrace with Alban.  We look forward to going back!

A Memorable B&B

We recently stayed 2 nights at La Maison de Thais. Alban was a great host and took time to show us some different places to visit, directions on how to get to different locations and also some great recommendations for restaurants. The house is nicely decorated. We had to share a bathroom with one other couple and it was not a problem at all. Although the bed is not super comfortable the room is well appointed. We had everything we could have needed. The roof top terrace was really nice and it was great to have access to a fridge to leave a few cold drinks for when we returned at night. The house is in a perfect location as you can walk to everything within 10-15 min. It was easy to come and go. The breakfast was really good and it was nice to chat with Alban and Thais. We would not hesitate to return to La Maison Thais should we be fortunate enough to go back to Arles. Merci pour tout Alban
