As I mentioned in my previous review, this hotel wins big on location and friendliness. That said, the wifi has VASTLY improved since my last stay and I got 15 mbps up and 20mbps down, take that, Hilton!

Stayed again, getting better

Awesome, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and don't even get me started on the food. The Hotel Doral is the best place to stay in El Centro - it's near EVERYTHING! You need no car and rarely will need a cab to access any of the top tourist attractions in Guayaquil. I can't recommend this place enough.

The staff also speaks English, for my fellow gringos! I definitely recommend the suite, too!

Amazing hotel, fantastic staff

It is nice to come to a hotel that meets and somewhat exceeds expectations (i.e. what we read on internet and reviews).
The hotel is a bit worn but this was as well expected. Personnel really kind. Walking distance to Malecón and for us (that like walking) also to Isla Santay.
If I can recommend some improvements I would suggest more fresh fruits for breakfast.
A price worthy hotel choice for central Guayaquil.

Perfect location

I went back to visit my relatives in Guayaquil, Ecuador and I stayed at this hotel for a few days. It is a basic hotel with small lobby but right down town with easy access to all kind of transportation and walking distance to almost anywhere in old Guayaquil or an inexpensive taxi ride to other areas in the city. Room was kind of small, had hot water, a window with street view and TV.
The staff was helpful and knowledgeable about the city and places to go. 
Hotel has a fast WIFI.
If you are in a budget, this is a decent clean place to stay.

Everything I expected in a budget hotel.

The hotel is a bit tired and shabby but it was adequate for what we needed and the aircon worked. Staff varied between super friendly and not so, but all spoke excellent English. Wifi was a bit more tricky on 2nd floor and kept having to have the router restarted. The room was fine and comfortable and even though we were right above the busy street, the beeping of cars horns stopped overnight and didn't start again until about 6.45am. Breakfast was slightly weird even by Ecuadorean standards as the menu came round every day but no matter what you ordered you got the same thing. The waiter serves hot milk and you put Nescafe in the cup from a pot on the table. That caught a few people out! The main challenge is to find somewhere to eat that is not the Intercontinetal Hotel and not a fast food cafe or takeaway. Tricky, but we found a seafood place on the Malecon which was rather expensive but ok and Subway for lunchtime which was the least greasy option.

Close to city centre attractions and Malecon

Room adequate. Location is great next to iguana park and close to malecon boardwalk. Staff very friendly. Breakfast could do with some variety. Internet free and adequate.

Amenities were basic. Easy walk to food, markets, shopping.

I booked this hotel because of reviews and location. The staff were very accommodating the location was great, how ever, I felt like I was staying in a rooming house. Everything was so outdated, the ac unit was so loud in my room and the TV was so tiny you could hardly see it from the bed. The breakfast was adequate.
