The hotel was old and  nasty. It seemed like  it wasn’t renovated for a while. Neither the garden nor the beach was taken care of. We have rented the standart room (65 euro per night), and big spiders welcomed us in the room. Firstly, we offered to change our room free of charge because it was such a bad  room that it was not possible for us  to stay in,. Finally they told us that we can stay at a better room by paying  20 euros more, we desperately accepted and stayed there one night. In addition the breakfast menu was poor and while swimming i saw a piece of $hit passing by me.
Overall, the worst thing about the hotel was when i informed them that we were gonna check in -relatively late- at 10pm the respond wasn’t satisfying. We were told that 10pm was fine but if we checked in in the middle of the night after casino or somewhat they wouldn’t be welcoming?? It was quiet a rude respond.

Spiders,rude phone call

A super place to stay. The Riviera Beach Bungalows has been our “go to” spot for many years because of it’s superb location, great staff and relaxed atmosphere.  

The native plant gardens along the sea front and around the rooms adds to the experience and provides shade while relaxing after a delightful swim. 

The food served is very tasty basic Turkish Cypriot food. We rarely go out to one of the local restaurants because of the setting at the Riviera is so delightful. Watching the sun set into the ocean is quite nice. 

There is a great concrete pier that allows you to drop into the sea without getting your feet sandy. Great for early morning swims!  

The staff will arrange for airport transfers, rental cars, taxis and anything else you need help with. It’s easy to get into Kyrenia on the local bus available just a short walk away. 

The Riviera Beach Bungalows is a place to relax and unwind. We have found a 10 day to 2 week stay is just right. Don’t expect entertainment or any frills, instead enjoy and appreciate the healing effects of this lovely place.

Lovely place.

This is one of those hotels that barely exist any more. Next to a beautiful, clean sea, with a lush, green garden filled with palms, tamarisks, olive trees, oleander, hibiscus and lots of other plants and flowers, and a spacious pool. You can sit under the trees and peep out at the waves splashing on the shore, or you can sit on the sandy beach under a straw umbrella, or up on the flat rocks with the view of the ocean and the mountains. It's run by a family who are always there to help, and the marvellous Ali who looks after the restaurant. The food is simple but fresh and tasty. If you are vegan and vegetarian they will do everything they can to accommodate you. The rooms are spacious and clean - I have stayed in the bungalows which are less expensive than the ones with sea views, but last time I treated myself and it was worth every penny to have the view of sea and mountains, and the sound of the waves all night. There are cats and chickens roaming around, and sometimes dogs too. I've never found a hotel this peaceful and pretty at an affordable price - which is why I keep coming back. I've been in a group and I've been solo and both times it's been great.

Rare oasis of beauty and tranquility

It's not for everybody's taste. If you want a relaxed, chill-out-on-the-beach type of holidays, with simple food and lots of tranquility, this is a great choice. If you want to party, or want a posh hotel, you'd better search in the town centre.

Rooms, or bungalows, are cleaned daily. Hot water runs well. Air conditioning works fine too. The pool is in good condition too. 

About the animals: some cats roam free around the property and they are clean, quite well behaved, they won't bother you too much during meal times. Once I saw a cock walking past the bushes that surround the pool. It minded its business and didn't bother any guest. There are also a couple of cages with hens, ducks and rabbits within the property.

The private beach is the main asset of this hotel. Plenty of sun beds around the beach, many of them under the shadow of trees and big bushes. Water was beautifully transparent, and the temperature was perfect. The bottom of the beach is rocky so this means two things: 1) it's a good idea to put on diving socks or underwater shoes to enter it, and 2) there are plenty of fishes  to keep you or your kids entertained whilst snorkeling. Occasionally you will see a plastic bag or an ice lolly wrap, unfortunately. I picked them up when I saw them and binned them. 

Breakfast buffet and meals in general: there's a limited menu. Prices are quite reasonable. I recommend: the esme, the yoghurt,  cheese pastry rolls, a Cypriot yoghurt and rice soup, and the spaghetti bolognese - they use a local cheese instead of the traditional parmigiano but it's still nice, and quite fulfilling. 

Cons of this hotel: 
1) you are not allowed to bring in food or drinks into your room. Truth is they keep prices as low as possible (a beer will cost you in the hotel only 0.5 Turkish lira more than in a shop). Still, it was an inconvenience. 
2) coffee is not included in the breakfast buffet. Well, there's soluble coffee, but I don't consider it proper coffee. You'll have to order it and it will cost you around 2.5 £.
3) it's a bit far from the center (a good one hour walking), and the restaurants along the way to the center look quite average. You'll have to use the local buses or taxis. A trip to the center will cost you between 30 and 40 Turkish lira. The majority of the drivers asked for 30. 

Staff are all very nice and friendly. All of us were very happy with them.

Last piece of advice: when you do the booking, get some confirmation you'll get the type of room you're booking. Somehow the "double bed" request got lost in the process - this piece of info wasn't passed on to the hotel - and we ended up with twin beds. However, the manager sorted this out quickly and efficiently - we were very happy with him.

Yeah I recommend this hotel, but

Bungalow 55 is lovely.  The balcony is upstairs off the mezzanine bedroom and you can view the sea to your right and the swimming pool to your left. Very short distance to everything; Reception; car park; swimming pool; beach; road access for a short walk to the main road (for buses, shops, cafeterias, restaurants etc)   No road noise at all as the property is tucked a short way from the hustle and bustle of the high street and through traffic.   

Bed comfortable, balcony upstairs with good views, patio downstairs, clean.  Daily shopping service delivered to your bungalow. Everyone helpful and polite and smiley.

TV channels in room not good but there is a large screen tv with many more channels just by the dining area and reception. This area also has comfortable chairs and shelves with loads of paperback, in various languages, which residents can borrow.

For dining the breakfast selection, included in the cost of my room, was excellent. Home made lemonade, Turkish tea, selection of other teas and coffees. Selection of lovely local bread with a toaster to be able to DIY, so your toasting is how you like it.  Further selection of cereal, cheeses, tomato, cucumber etc.  Then a further selection of fruit: melon; grapes; oranges etc. Certainly a feast to set you up for the day.  This can be eaten inside or on the terrace.

The terrace is a paved area which overlooks the sea, exotic gardens, and along the bay.  Beautiful views and it has an overhanging canopy of grapevines.  Lovely fresh air and sunshine.  This is also a great area to watch the sunset in the evening while having dinner or a drink.

Evening dinner was lovely.  I can recommend the calamari and I had delicious chicken, Turkish ravioli etc every meal was vey enjoyable.  On some nights there is an option to join the set menu buffet style evening meal.  The food offered was good, with a selection of salad, soup, main and pudding. All enjoyable and an extra choice to the menu or if you are on a fixed budget.

The extensive gardens, pool and beach are private to the hotel, with non-residents registering at reception and paying a fee to use them.  These areas were not too busy when I stayed.

Certainly an excellent stay for a get-away-from-it-all holiday.

Only two downside comments:
The whole of my August week the weather was a constant 38 degrees.  So I would advise to go in spring or autumn.

I was charged over £100 as a single person surcharge but as I went through holiday company, I do not know whether this was a property charge or a holiday agency charge.

Peace and quiet -so tranquil

First of all a huge thank you to the staff- Mr O, Mrs O, Mr O's dad and Ali!

I travelled here with my dad and my brother a few weeks ago for a 2 week stay. It was absolute paradise. The apartments are in the most beautiful grounds, with plants and flowers everywhere you look. Of course being in natural surroundings, this does come with bugs but luckily I had two bug exterminator men with me! This really did not hinder our stay. Since there is a no food policy in the rooms, most bugs did not really venture in. The food here is basic turkish-cypriot but was always absolutely delicious. But Ali - you have to get more chocolate milk in! Princesses do indeed drink chocolate milk!!! Ha ha. The rooms were spacious and pristine, the maids were excellent and I wouldn't worry about valuables in the rooms, though you  can use the safe at Reception for a fee I believe. Gorgeous cats wander around the complex which I absolutely loved! It's not too far from Kyrenia or Girne as the Cypriots call it - just walk to the top of the road and jump on a dolmas (mini vans that operate like buses) or call a taxi to the hotel as they are incredibly cheap with the £ being so strong against the Lira. I could not recommend the hotel enough. If you are looking for somewhere quiet to go as a couple or a quiet family holiday away, I would 100,000% recommend here. This is not a location for an action packed holiday, but if you are looking for a patch of paradise then look no further. We had a wonderful holiday, though as a busy body I found 2 weeks a little long. It is simplicity at it's finest here. Mr and Mrs O were very friendly and informative about the local area and the history of the island which both my father and myself found fascinating. Doughnut Box up the road serve tasty doughnuts and The Chinese House up the road is DELICIOUS and has sushi equal to upper London Standard (coming from my dad who is an ex chef so it's high praise) but that's another review entirely.

Oh the pool and beach also - GORGEOUS.

Absolute Paradise

We stayed in the Riviera Beach bungalows for 2 nights - actually sadly only 2 nights. The bungalows are located in a huge scenic garden planted with a lot of flowers and trees with own beach access. The bungalow was very large and with sea view. The swimming pool is huge and really relaxing. The owner are very nice and friendly and they welcomed us warmly. The food was great and they also improvised the day I didn't like the planned dinner. They were always very supportive. We loved it there a lot and in case we go back to Northern cyprus we definitely stay there again.

Stay in scenic paradise

We spent 10 days there , going with a couple who  had been there the year before. It’s a fairly basic , family run place but I think it made it more appealing for our trip ( 4 adults , no kids). The service was excellent from friendly family
Owners & bar staff Ali. Our apartment was roomy enough with a balcony giving sea view. In fact all night we could hear the sea lapping on the beach! Tea making facilities were there , unfortunately there were two single beds , the mattress was fine but it was on a wooden base ( fixed to the floor)so was rather noisy whenever I turned over ! WiFi was obtained by buying ‘scratch’ cards , this was sporadic in the room ( better on the balcony!) , it was better when in the restaurant/bar area . There was a laundry service which was excellent - cheaper than doing washing at home ! We took the Dolmus into Kyrenia , a few times for about 50p each ! They run literally every few minutes , within a 3 minute walk from the riveria. The beach is a small sandy area , there are rocks elsewhere but there are steps to help avoid the rocky bits . You can choose wether to sun bathe in direct sun or under the olive type trees.The bar was open til midnight ( we certainly kept the barman Ali busy with cocktails etc! The room has a mini bar - in the morning you indicate on a list what you would like - they then fill it during the day . Prices were  competitive so worth while using . I found the place very calming , no loud music , young groups etc ( we did go in the low season). We did experience Knat bites so take repellent if going in May .The swimming pool was being refurbished whilst we were there but as we were on the beach it didn’t cause any issues. We’re hoping to go back there again next yr with more friends as we enjoyed its relaxing , quiet atmosphere . The family
Owners & staff were so friendly , spoke English & did all they could to enable us to have a really enjoyable time there . 

A relaxing , chilled place to stay .

I have stay at there for 3 days. Our house (yes its not room really house) is perfect. Its not luxury place, cosy place. Its a family business, breakfast was average. But nature, sea and atmosphere was very good.

For the best weekend escape

We enjoyed an afternoon at the Riviera. Nice pool, great atmosphere but shame about the beach at this place. Its far too rocky and hard to get in if its windy. Nice family run place. Peaceful. Value for money. Great spot to write if you are a writer or on a working holiday.
