The hostel was very clean and comfortable, the staff were very friendly and helpful and it was in a good location, not being far from the old town or the beaches. The hostel also had a great little bar.

A great stay

This was my first trip to Zadar, and having stayed at The Mellow Monkey, it definitely won't be my last. Only a short walk from the bus station and beach, comfortable beds, hot showers, entertainment most nights, bbq's other nights and some of the best espresso martinis I've ever had - you honestly cannot go wrong at this hostel. Only con I can think of, which is more of a bonus in many respects, is the walk along the coast into the old town. It takes about 20/30 mins depending on how fast you walk, but the view along the way is breathtaking. Staff are awesome too, which is always a bonus! I cant wait to return to The Monkey Troop Hostels :D

10 days in Zadar

They must get a lot of visiotrs that complain it's not in the old town, but don't worry the old town is about a 10-15 minute walk either down backroads or along the coast, which is much prettier.  

This is a really fun and friendly hostel in Zadar in a (I feel) great location.  It's right near the beaches, 5 minutes from the bus station, has a really good little supermarket close by, about 10 minutes from the ferry port.  You couldn't ask for a better location.  The staff are really helpful and know Zadar and Croatia extremely well.  They have lots of things going on like BBQ night and Beer pong night.  You can easily book tours from the hostel.

The bed (bunk bed) I had was comfortable and the room and common rooms were all clean.  There was a lockable storage unit to keep your valuables, bring your own padlock or i'm sure they can provide you with one.  The only downside to my room was that it didn't have a curtain, and whilst that dodn't bother me, those sensitive to light or wanting a dark room might find that an inconvenience.  The hostel has fast wi-fi throughout.  I believe it has a pool, but i don't think it was open when I was there.  You can also make use of the Lazy Monkey Hostel, a little down the road, which has pool tables and a large terrace to relax on.

Had a great time, met so many new friends here, hope i'll be back.

Fun and Friendly hostel in Zadar

I found a great hostel in Zadar, super friendly, warm and really comfortable. Nice little bar and lounge where I met a few other stragglers travelling in March. Awesome city map which i think is their own as it had all their personal recommendations on it. All in all I would return to the Mellow Monkey in a heart beat!

Great place for any fellow traveler

I stayed here for 2 nights last week, although it was nearing the end of the season and there weren’t many people staying the staff were still extremely helpful and accommodating. Very clean and well kept hostel! Facilities at their sister hostel the lazy monkey could also be used if you wanted a bigger kitchen facility. I would definitely return. 3 minutes walk to the beach and 20 into old town! Highly recommend! I wish I had more time there! 


Excellent Hostel 

This was a really nice hostel. We stayed in two different private rooms as we extended our stay. ‘This’ (name of the room) room was better as it wasn’t over the bar so was quieter. 
Really enjoyed the hostel it’s self with free tea and coffee in the morning and a little pool. 
Short walk to both the beach and the old town! 
Would stay here again 

Great hostel

Spent 3 days here while visiting Zadar. As advised it is a full 20 minutes from the old city( walking). Parking is at the church parking area before you get to the hostel. The roads are narrow and one way so it pays to look out for the parking if you have a car. The hostel was user friendly, clean with good showers etc..  The beach is 5 mins ( at most) walk and not busy at all compared with closer to the old city.  In the opposite direction to the old city is the Tequila Sunrise cafe- recommend for an afternoon drink if only for the view. Overall a good place to stay at a reasonable cost in a good location as long as you don’t mind a pleasant walk to the old city.

Friendly and tidy

We stayed here two nights, the hostel is nice, clean. Bathrooms are clean and functional. There’s a good party atmosphere, we all went on our first night and had a great time.

The second night we were very tired and wanted to stay in and chill, but lots of know people had checked in and they obviously wanted to party, but this then caused us being woken up 5 times through the night but men in our room, coming in singing, turning lights on, screaming, drinking in the room at 4am. Which left us incredibly tired the next day.

Overall, great if you were to party, but if you want a good nights sleep, wouldn’t advise.
