Lovely family run small guesthouse with big features (good size pool, tennis court, pool table, table tennis, honesty bar). 

My double room was large, spotlessly clean, bright and airy with a nice balcony and sea views. 

The owners are brilliant - very welcoming, friendly and generous, making my stay very special. 

Nearby are three good restaurants but the breakfast provided (extra cost) saw me through to dinner.

Ideal for couples, singles and large groups, with one apartment configurable for up to nine people. No hesitation recommending this place to anyone looking for a base to explore Istria.

This is one of the best apartment hotel. Nice location - peaceful, sea view, swimming pool. Rooms are clean and well maintained.  You could also use their BBQ - which often visitors do. Prices are very reasonable according to the competition. We go there every year for couple of days (end of June and mid of September). Owner is very compliant - You could make reservation via email.

Room was very clean, nice. Girls who works there was polite, always there if you need something. Whole house is very nice, warm, clean. House is in top of the hill so we had view on the sea. Everything was absolutely fantastic.

My other half and I like to go somewhere different each time we holiday.  This summer we decided on the rustic Istrian peninsula of Croatia.

I tend to book each item separately, so went via Owners Direct to find an apartment for our stay.  There were a few to choose from but settled on BarBoška.  We liked the setting and the amenities it offered.  We did have a number of questions for the owner as the descriptions of the rooms were a bit vague, but he replied with answers to our queries and a deposit was sent.  The booking process was a little protracted and I did have to ask for confirmation.

On arrival at the accommodation we were greeted by Dorothea who was very friendly and most helpful.  We were taken to the room and after we settled we were given a tour of the house and grounds.

The room was simple, clean and comfortable.  The balcony with little bistro table and chairs overlooked the pool and we had a sea view albeit about 1km away.  It was quite lovely.  The bathroom was excellent and it had a very good shower.

The room had a small kitchen area.  There was a two hob cooker with pots pans and utensils to do some basic cooking.  We managed pasta dishes and salads with what was available and coped fine.  It did lack a few things though.  A kettle is, I think, a must.  It also needs a small kit of things for those travelling from a bit further afield; washing-up liquid, dish cloth, tea towels, kitchen roll, but these were kindly provided by the staff upon request.  The kitchen area is very dark too and made food preparation quite difficult.  I’d also like to have seen a soft broom and/or a dust pan to clean the apartment’s tiled floor as it did get dusty over the week.  I guess most of the clientele are Croatian, east Europeans and those who have driven and will be coming with some of this stuff.

One disappointment was the lack of WiFi in the rooms.  It is advertised but we had little or none.  There was access in the cafe area but even this was rather hit and miss.  Luckily I have a Vodafone package that makes it slightly more affordable at an extra £2 a day.  I also have a healthy data quota because we certainly used it when uploading a few photos here and there!

The house had a bar/café area and it was nice to have a coffee and chat with the staff about the local attractions.  There were some books and guides to help as well.  The pool was lovely.  After a dusty hot day out exploring, it was great to go and have a swim.  It is a shared area so it does get busy at times but everyone was friendly enough.  We managed to borrow the bikes a couple of times and these were included in the deal.  They were a great fun way to explore further afield.  The beach is a 15 minute walk down a gravel track and there were plenty of places to enjoy the Adriatic which is a beautiful swim.

The staff, both ladies, were very helpful, polite and friendly to us during our stay.  Thank you!  My partner and I would recommend this apartment to everyone as it would cater for couples and larger families.  There’s plenty to do around the area and we made the most of a wonderful part of Croatia.  We will return but perhaps to the southern part of the country.
