Villa Matilda

I cannot say enough good things about our stay here at Villa Matilda, but I'll go through a few. When we arrived on a long connecting flight from Reykjavik we were tired and in addition the airlines had lost our luggage, this was made a lot easier by Tonci who assisted our driver in reaching the property by car. He gave us the full explanation of the accomodation and a great run through of the city, it's history, and what we should get around to see while we were there - a small personal touch that almost makes you feel apart of the family. He also assisted us with communication with the airlines to get our luggage delivered once it had been located. During the stay we were always made to feel welcome. Tonci's wife Maya arrived a few days into our stay and I have never met a nicer couple of owners during ANY stay ANYWHERE!!! Nothing was too much trouble. On the occassions when I needed to speak to them I simply knocked on the door and was immediately invited in for wine, juice water etc............. OMG!!!! Checkout was super simple, they allowed us to store our luggage during the day as our pick up was later that day. Then when our driver couldn't find the accommodation (I have no idea why they had so much trouble - it's super simple to get there) Tonci was the man on the spot to make sure it happened. Maya was so generous as to even offer to take us in her personal car if the driver didn't arrive - talk about above and beyond!! I'm sure I've missed out heaps of great details, but believe me when I say you will not be disappointed when you book here, but be quick as they are nearly always fully booked. This is not a surprise at all. The location is good as it's a quick 15 min walk to the old town with no huge stairs!!!! It's close enough to be able to walk out to eat, but far enough to sit on the balcony and enjoy the peaceful view without the hustle and bustle of the crowds destroying the serenity
