The Royal Fortune Hotel

Its a great hotel with very spacious lobby, rooms etc
Even the food/breakfast is very good.
From business point of view, they are a good value for money hotel and offer all required facilities.

I stayed at this hotel for 5 days. They were repairing and polishing the lobby floors hence it did not seem very grand or welcoming but altogether it was ok. The rooms were recently renovated and they were nice and comfy. There were two English tv channels, news and sports, which was great to have. Some of the reception staff spoke English well but most did not and could not be any sort of help. The hotel location was central and good. Many restaurants within walking distance and shopping was a short drive away. The breakfasts were great. I recommend this hotel for someone who is seeking a comfortable central location but no luxury.

The hotel looks great! It is close to many restaurants, and was a comfortable modern room. Breakfast was good.

However - when we walked into the room for the first time there was a very faint 'funny' smell. 
After we had taken a shower we knew why. The bathroom flooded because the drain hole in the shower area was in the wrong position, so the water did not drain out. Added to this the shower area did not seal and the water leaked into the rest of the bathroom. It was like a small lake the first time we used the bathroom.
We had to use the plastic shower mat to sweep the water into the drain holes.

When we asked for a different room, we were told that all the rooms were like this.
So, if you want a relaxing shower without a lake and no funny smell in your room, don't stay here.

Good hotel pity about the bathrooms!

First impressions are good, as is typical for a large Chinese hotel...spacious, airy lobby filled with plants and comfortable seating, dramatic sweeping staircase to the 2nd floor restaurant, etc.  From there it goes downhill very quickly.  Hallways stank of urine and body odor.  My corner suite reeked of cigarette smoke.  When asked if I could change rooms, the front desk attendant quickly apologized and said they were full, but could send someone to take care of the smell.  After a long wait, a lady came by asking if I needed this to be like a non-smoking room.  When I said yes, she came in and removed the ashtrays!

Other issues; the room was beyond filthy, with numerous mysterious stains on the carpet (some of them may have been moving, I don't know), aged and broken bath fixtures, yellowed, peeling wallpaper and curtains that emit a cloud of dust when you open and close them.  

The elevator placard and hotel guide advertised a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, massage, and fitness center in the basement.  When I went down to investigate, I found a parking garage and living quarters for the hotel staff.  That same guide boasts of 3 gourmet restaurants, but there was only 1 in operation with a limited menu, ridiculous prices, and no customers during peak dinner hours.  Clearly this is a hotel past its prime.
