Stayed in a 4bed dorm which had its own bathroom. Next to it was a little terrace with a pool table and two cats wandering around :) Good wifi and locker in the room..good deal for £8 a night..I was really pleased and had a good overall experience, but my friends who stayed in a 6bed dorm weren't impressed at all.. Never the less, the location of this hostel is perfect!

Fantastic location + cheap

I stayed here during February during Spring Festival. The hostel is a little tricky to find, and I had to ask a couple people how to get there. The taxi will just drop you in front of the the Fuzimiao area, but then you will have to find your way from there. When you get into the Fuzimiao area walk straight until you get to the area where the Confucius temple is on one side and the bridge and river is on the other. Cross the bridge and walk straight, then turn right. Walk straight for about 2 minutes and the hostel will be on the right side. Their sign is very small so look closely. 
The hostel itself is ok. I wasn't wowed by the staff, and while they're English is fine, they didn't seem to be very interested in helping with directions or attractions. There is a nice lounge area when you come in, with tv, bar and music. They do serve food, and it was reasonably priced and tasted fine. They have a laundry room and a pool table. The rooms are fine, but the beds, like others stated, are rather squeaky. Also, they also play music in the restaurant all night which you can hear in the bedrooms, so I would recommend bringing ear plugs if your a light sleeper. I was disappointed by the bathrooms, which are quite far from the bedrooms, forcing you to walk through the main entrance to get there. Many of the showers weren't working correctly and there was no where to put your clothes or toiletries when in the showers. The toilets smelled as if they weren't cleaned as often as they should. However, the one saving grace of the hostel is its location, in the heart of the Fuzimiao district, with great architecture, nightlife, shops and street food all around you. It's a beautiful area with lots to do. The hostel is also not far from the subway, about a 10 to 15 minute walk. 
Overall, I found this hostel to be a decent place to stay in Nanjing, but things could definitely be improved.

OK hostel with great location

I stayed in a private room at the Sunflower. The hostel was booked last minute and it was cheap.
I'll begin with the positives. Location is fantastic! Close to lots of street food, shops and the Confucius temple. Like most hostels the staff were helpful and the common areas were comfortable and friendly. And the bar had a selection of cocktails which were well made and a good price.

Unfortunately the hostel was generally grubby and run down. I expected basic, which was fine. But the bathrooms were not well maintained, with loose fixtures and really smelly drains. Some of  our party stayed in the dorms and didn't have a good experience with the maintenance of the bathrooms, nasty smells and trouble with the room temperature. The bed sheets seemed clean, but due to the rest of the room's condition, I didn't trust it. There seems to be cleaners around all the time, but I am not sure what they were cleaning. The toilets downstairs reminded me of a horror movie in aesthetically and cleanliness.

Not the best

The location is amazing. It's right in the middle of the pedestrian street and Confucian Temple area. The rooms are filthy and linen needs to burnt down to avoid further damage to mankind. If you are planning to stay here make sure you have a clean bed sheet and an air freshner. Try getting the whole room to yourself and friends. The washroom area is common. My advice is its a cheap and good location  but make sure you just go there to sleep. 

Excellent location  and dirty rooms

I can't tell about the dorm, but our private room was in the horrible condition. It was dirty, without any facilities and very cold. It had AC, but it didn't help. At night we could hear our neighbors returning from some clubs or parties. They have a cafe inside, the food is ok, and relatively cheap, also they sell some good beer. But the ambiance was spoiled by some dirty looking kids, their "little club" constant presence there made any other person presence in this bar uncomfortable. Me personally, I liked just their fat kitty! She's very cute.
