Macchiatto Hotel

I had to spend a day working in Changzhou so decided to spend the night instead travailing more. This hotel looked ok so I choose it. The location is easy to fine - close to the Golden Pagoda park and about a 15 minute walk to the railway station - bus station. Check in was easy - as I had a Chinese speaking person with me. Without my translator it may have been difficult as the check in person spoke no English. She did however have a lovely smile. Had to leave a 200 rmb deposit for the room - but that is normal in China it seems. The elevator requires the room key to operate so if you are not alone ask for a second key. The room we ordered - a deluxe room - was very large and well equipped. Big flat screen tv, cable tv, wifi - that didn't work so well, a sofa, lots of pillows, work desk, mini bar and great lighting. YES! An Asian hotel room with adequate lighting. The bathroom had a two person Jacuzzi that worked well for about 10 minutes - then with an audible bang the pump blew up and there was the smell of electrical wiring burning. I got out of the tub then. They also supplied ample bath liquids for free and for an extra fee bubble bath and salts. The room came with two breakfasts HOWEVER when we went there at 8:45 there was no food at all. The breakfast time is 7:30 to 9:30 so there is no excuse for this at all. DO NOT PAY FOR THE BREAKFAST. You will not be happy. If you are the type of person who need to eat breakfast then don't stay here as you will be disappointed. There really aren't any close places to eat a decent meal either. Overall the hotel is nice. Clean. Well kept. Checkout took a little longer as they had one person doing both check in and check out and they were busy when we wanted to check out. At about $40 for a night it is a decent value. The Jacuzzi was a nice touch - if only it had worked.
