Hostal Río Puntra

This was the last available hostel we could find in Ancud and it seemed a bit strange that there were hardly any reviews, website, or info available on it. We also trudged through the pouring rain (could've taken a taxi though I guess) and were welcomed to an immaculately clean, cozy family house with a few rooms upstairs. We had booked a double bed and since it wasn't full we got to choose which room we wanted. The owner is a very friendly young woman who booked a penguin tour for us, gave us information and tips about things to do and made breakfast. It feels almost like a homestay or B&B actually. We could use the kitchen and drink coffee or tea all day, there were only a few rules about not eating upstairs in the rooms as well as alcohol use (possibly due to previous problems) but that also meant that the house was that much cleaner. All in all one of my favorite hostels and not too expensive either, I would recommend it even if it is a bit out of the way, but you can always just take a colectivo for $300 or a taxi for 1500 from the center.
