BIG4 Townsville Woodlands Holiday Park

Very busy as you would expect for a Big 4. Ladies at reception were LOVELY! The water slides and pool are great, and the little kiosk area that is open on a Friday and Saturday evening was reasonably priced and tasty.  Didn't try the mini golf, but the playground and jumping pillow areas needed a little TLC. Work needs to be done to the access to the pool too for the wet season so you don't have to walk through mud to get to the play and pool areas, it was a bit gross and smelly and a mozzie minefield.

We had a nice stay at this park. The amenities were very clean and so was the camp kitchen, staff was very friendly and helpful, this is a strong feature of this park. We travel with a small campervan which made out camp spot humongous :)  There is road noise but that didn't keep us awake. The stone curlews made some noise but they are funny birds, so yeah.  

A nice stay, recommended!

Nice enough park, but looking a bit tired in parts. Recreational facilities for kids are good (pool, jumping pillows etc) but no games room. Camp kitchen is very basic, as are the amenities. They are adequate but could certainly do with some upgrades and more regular cleaning. 
Biggest issue was when it rains. Some of the roads are just dirt (not asphalt) so when it rains it become a big sloppy mud pie. The sort where you sink into it and slip and slide when you try and walk on it. This is also the case with the camp sites. Not a problem I guess if you’re in a caravan, but if in a tent then you won’t be happy campers!!  Other sites we have stayed at have fake turf or shade cloth material attached to the ground to give a good solid base. That would’ve been helpful here. Also if you’re in a tent the birds will wake you before the sun is up, and possibly throughout the night. It’s also a  bit of a drive out of the main town so I think if I was to return to Townsville, I would stay somewhere closer to town.

Ok for a few nights if on a budget,  probably won’t return though.

Large grassy sites. Friendly staff and easy check in. Quiet caravan park. So much for the kids to do. Awesome waterslides, mini golf, watepark and jumpy pillow. Clean facilities. Only stayed 2 nights but should have stayed more. We will be back.

One of the best

We have been scammed and we received emails saying that we paid for a visit and $944 is missing from our credit card. We then called the resort and they refused to give us a refund because it is not 24 hours away from us “staying”

We are travelling the East Coast is Aussie and this is the first time we have left a pre-booked and paid park early…. So a bit disappointed. The park in itself has a nice lay out and lovely pool areas. Could see that it would be excellent for families under the right circumstances. 
Our reason for leaving were around noise level and concern for safety… through the night, our closest neighbours who seemed to be long term residents were up smoking, wandering near our space with their smoke filling our camper - possibly not even aware that they were impacting us. 
Somewhere close by a couple were in a loud and unsettling argument. When leaving, I was asked by the very caring staff member if it was due to road noise… this was present but not a big impact to us….
I felt unsafe - possibly an operational boom gate might have eased some of that but overall, some of the appearing to be long term residents may need a “conversation”. A working boom gate doesn’t change the internal issues but it would make people feel safer around their vehicles etc. I hope the park staff might consider this.
We had an ensuite site that was ok - no shade at all though for really hot and humid days - other sites had shade.

Communication from the park was great - staff seem lovely. 
Maybe our night was a one off but left us feeling really unsettled.



An honest review…

Pool was awesome slides and golf great, the water park was average but all working. The park and cushion great. We had an ensuite site it was clean and functional but smelt a little damp. The staff were so friendly, could not have been more helpful.

Water slides

Good size park. Lots of en suite sites. Great pool. Splash park etc. quiet guests. But…… road noise. Ok I’m a light sleeper but trucks, hoons, freight trains. Most of the night. Leaving a holiday park more tired than arriving. It’s between major roads so expected I guess.

We stayed 2 nights, and enjoyed our experience at this park. Good large sites, amenities are set up as an ensuite which were are clean. The team here very welcoming and helpful. The GPS is not completely accurate, it will tell you are at the property, but continue along the road and you will see the sign, turn left into the park, it is as you are approaching a set of lights.

Short Stay

We loved staying at this park. The pools and slides are great! There is plenty to do and the grounds are kept well presented. The villa is a good size for family and the beds were comfy! Would definitely recommend to family and friends.
