A trip to the Gold Coast in summer was ruined by the lack of air-conditioning in our apartment. We booked and payed for 2 nights but the unbearable heat left us no choice but to leave early. 
The apartment was dirty, one of the duvet covers had been eaten by some bug or other. There were insect screens but they only went part way down the window and so were ineffective at keeping out any unwanted pests.
We had to wait almost an hour before someone came to give us our key because they were unaware of our booking - made on hotels.com several days earlier.
The management was unavailable when we tried to contact them about issues and we ended up having to leave our key in an unguarded key jar

No air-conditioning, dirty

Stayed one night and very thankful we did not book more. It was nothing like what was shown in the Tripadvisor photos. After parking in the basement car park and going up stairs there was rubbish of all sorts on the stairs,mildew everywhere and it was literally falling apart.. When entering the unit at first it did not look that bad. After further looking is appeared unclean with glunk in the sink waste, the bathroom had black around the tiles and plug holes and the front door on to the patio had no lock as It had fallen off. Then to top things off my wife sat on the couch and was bitten many time by something unknown. She still has the bite marks days later. We received insect spray from the manager but it did not make a lot of difference. The bed was Ok and we found the manager helpful.  When departing we spoke to a gentleman who was shifting out. He advised that the block of units had been sold to a southern developer. Since then there had been nothing spent on the units and they were getting worse by the day. I feel this should be noted on Tripadvisor. I would definitely not recommend staying here.

Shocking Place to stay.

We weren't expecting the Ritz (although the Ritz is 2 doors up the road).
We don't mind that the décor is very dated and old but we do expect the 2 bedroom apartment to be clean.

However, the apartment was very dusty, 1 of the singlebed sheets were not replaced from the previous people that stayed there, as we found stains, hair and a bandaid under the sheets, the dishwasher is old and had an Out of Order sign on it, the washing machine was too noisy to use during spin cycle because it would wake the neighbours down the road (and it leaked), the kitchen cupboards have vinyl peeling away everywhere and keeps peeling away on its own (very off putting), glassware had stains, dish rack has rust on it, the sink in the toilet had all its plumbing disconnected so it was not able to be used, a dirty shower screen, no air conditioning so impossible to sleep at night, very dark inside apartment with views of building walls everywhere we looked and dodgy sliding door locks so we never felt secured at night.

I think the reason for it's condition is that the Management expect their guests to clean the apartment before they leave. What ever cleaning is performed by its staff is very minimal. Very poor quality control.

The apartment is in a great location and has Foxtel.
If they would give it a serious clean and fix the appliances it would be an acceptable place to stay.

This was our experience with Unit 7 so we cannot comment on the other units. We wish we checked with Trip Advisor before we booked because we noticed similar feedback from others who seem to have been referring to Unit 7 with bad experiences.

Avoid Unit 7

Way overpriced, will never stay here again. Not disable friendly at all - no elevators and multiple stairs. If you can not handle carrying luggage up too much stairs, do NOT stay here - especially if you have your own car and plan to park in their garage! Extra stairs. There was a no splashing rule in the pool also. Which was hard for a 6 and 8 year old. Not even sure how they managed to get a safety certificate for the pool, considering it's not even fenced safely - A child could easily climb up into the pool area with the chairs left around. Even the poles surrounding the pool have sharp rust at the bottom of them, wouldn't be surprised if someone cuts their foot there one day. We stayed at the Broadbeach Savannah for the other half of the week which was cheaper and 5 star compared to this.

Not family friendly 

We are a family of 3 and could not recommend this accommodation more. It is close to the heart of Broadbeach as well as the beach and Pacific Fair. The room was clean and amazing value for money. Thank you for having us.
