What was good

The hotel is located in the downtown center of all the action in the city, right along the coast. It has a beautiful view from the pool and getting taxis is easy. They also have a boat that operates every 10 min from the hotel to the private island, which is definitely the best perk of the hotel. We ate at Aquarius and it was amazing. Great value for the buffet of fresh seafood. The servers were very nice and fun. Bed and bedding were very comfortable and clean. The staff came by at a time of our request to clean it, which was nice.

What was bad

We were at Renaissance/Flamingo Island and a wedding was being set up. The staff should have told the hotel residents to leave while the wedding event was going on. It felt very awkward to be a guest there and in the way of the wedding - we were not sure if we were ok there or not! The worst part was that there was only one bartender at the bar while the wedding guests were ordering drinks - over 20 people. The bartender did her best, but the most horrible shock was that many other staff members walked by her, seeing the long line, and not helping. Even a manager eventually came after the crowd was loudly complaining, but he STILL did not assist the bartender with drinks! It was so sad!!! It was clear that Renaissance does not cross train staff, which is very necessary if they are going to host events on the premise.
