My sister and I stayed here in the small almendron villa. This has two bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, and a sitting room joining them. Each bedroom has its own entrance and small terrace, so it’s a good set up if you’re two (or more) friends traveling together. The villa is nice enough, and quite well equipped, although the interior and fittings were dated and could have benefitted from a more thorough cleaning. You do need to take a relaxed attitude to privacy as staff work on the grounds right outside from about 8am and at various times throughout the day. There’s a little swimming pool next to the villa, which was very pleasant and quiet, although use insect repellent – I got more mosquito bites in half an hour by that pool than in the rest of my trip! There’s a much larger swimming pool next to reception, which looked very nice, although we didn’t try it (the villa is actually a few minutes’ walk from reception).
	
Breakfast was nice enough, although not a huge selection – there were noodles and eggs cooked to order and a small selection of meat, fruits and curry and rice. The breakfast room could also have done with a good clean. 

When we arrived staff were not aware of our booking, however, since it was pre-paid we were sticking with it, and to be fair to the staff, they sorted it out with very little fuss. Overall, the hotel seemed pretty quiet, despite it being peak season. Staff were very good throughout our stay – a few issues needed resolving; the hot water and the air con each stopped working at one point – and they sent maintenance to fix them straight away, and then checked back with us to make sure that they were sorted. They also provided a free transfer back to the airport (I think they’d have provided free airport pick up if they hadn’t mislaid our booking). 

The resort itself does overlook the ocean, which is stunning, but is on the other side of the road, and there is no beach. It is very conveniently located – you can walk everywhere.  And don’t worry about the proximity of the road – like everywhere on Con Dao, it’s extremely quiet with only the occasional vehicle passing by. 

Overall it was a very pleasant stay, however, the facilities are a bit tired and it was reasonably expensive (considering the very high standards and low prices in many Vietnamese hotels) and you need to be prepared to take relaxed view towards some of the quirks.

Slightly tired facilities; pleasant stay overall

I struggle to find anything positive to say about this hotel. Positioned by the side of a busy road, this hotel is seriously neglected. Appalling service, dirty sheets, nauseating breakfast, polluted pool...I could go for ever. However one positive thing - I have learned not to ignore Trip Advisor reviews again.
